The mountain scrolls say it was 1960-61. What a way to run a winter... bare minimum in the heart of winter then some big storms in March and April. Early snows, nothing in the middle, then late snows. The NNE way, ha. Might need to wait for it, but it'll snow eventually.

Weird winter... certainly below normal on most aspects, but had a sustained period of winter with a lack of rain. Can easily see a winter with more snowfall but less retention and more rain mixed in there (can also just see big snowfall and big snowpack). Those active winters are what bring the snowfall totals up... can get front end WAA snow or back end upslope, even if it rains before or after the snowfall. It all counts. Might have a more variable up and down snowpack, but I'll take an active winter every time over long periods of boring. My love is for the meteorology in the mountains... how the wind flow at every level can effect precipitation, snow totals, cloud cover. Seeing how the fluid atmosphere interacts with the mountains and causes different outcomes on a very local level is a lot of fun. I'd imagine the ocean is very similar in being a cool environment with it's own local weather influence.

Holy crap! I'm reading up on it now and their naming of the beer based on the schedule of adding hops to these brews. Cool stuff. The lower minute brews are widespread but the 120 sounds tougher to find outside their area.

We've got Dogfish Head up here but don't know about that particular brew. Never had any of theirs but have seen the brand in most stores. I know how DIT feels and their time has passed, but Sip o' Sunshine is the choice here tonight.

Oh I’m joking too... I get it completely. Same for all snow that struggles to make it beyond 24-48 hours on the ground, whether in October, January or April. It would be kinda interesting to see snowfall averages if it only counted if it lasted 48 hours or more. BTV averages 24” of snowfall and 50” worth of stat padders? . ORH snowfall and CAD region probably stays pretty normal with their ability to hold onto the inches that fall. I will say in this event we at least had all day yesterday and even this morning in winter mode following the snows on Wednesday. Now she gone except some piles under the metal roofs where it slid.

... be funny if when someone asks how much snow a given place averages, you give them like 70% of average, with the asterisk that 30% more falls as stat padding in autumn and spring or washes away in under 24 hours in winter.

Only human powered turns out there now in this stretch of the Spine. Have Smuggs/Stowe/Bolton/Sugarbush North/MRG trail networks fully available to uphill traffic nearby. The lower elevations with less wind appear to have much much better turning conditions.

Yeah there's definitely a trend from widespread corporate regulations that were issued at the start of this, to dealing with it on a local level now depending on local or state guidance. Big companies made sweeping policies to be followed by all of their establishments regardless of state or location at the start of this. And now most of them are changing from that one-size-fits-all policy to following state/local guidance. We've done it at Vail Resorts too, with ski resorts across the U.S. and internationally in Canada/Australia... the original company stance was to be initiated at all properties last summer (masks, distancing, etc). This spring it's switched to "follow your local state guidelines"... which makes more sense. Companies know that if they mandate this stuff in places who do not require it, business will take a hit. People vote with their wallets.

Total is up to 12" at the Lookout Plot just above 3,000ft. Down here it's so windy it's hard to tell but it's full-on winter. The cold is impressive though... MWN is at 4F with a wind chill of -31 .

Getting crushed at the ski area. 1,500ft just cranking snow and wind. Might as well be January out there.

Was wondering if you were around for this squall. I was up by the Sunny Spruce Quad and then coming back through the Plaza it is very close to white-out conditions. It's like the sky is falling. Still laugh at the heated pavers just looking wet when snow is falling at like 1/16th of a mile visibility or even less at like 24F.
