  1. I saw she got her 100 days in, looked like she had a great winter which was awesome to see after some of the issues last summer.
  2. Every May it seems we get the over-the-top heat. And it happens fast... like as soon as any semblance of cold vacates Quebec and Ontario, it’s almost instantly in the 80s. Could be snowing one week, then bam the gates of Hades open up and heat goes from Midwest up into N. Quebec. Last year was the big deal where it snowed May 11, then was setting all-time ASOS records in mid-90s a week later it seemed. Even summits MWN and Mansfield were setting all-time high temps after a frigid first two weeks of May. Today... already 80F at spots like BML, MVL, BTV while BDL, ORH, CON are upper 60s.
  3. Looks like BTV didn’t get below 70F on the hourly temps last night. The nocturnal southerly jet in the valley there cranked again. Very Caribbean like weather there with increasing south winds overnight on these warm nights. Dews in the 40s though with very high min, just stays really well mixed all night.
  4. Looks to come through here with 0.10-0.30" during early afternoon.... like perfectly timed to mess up the day. I'll trade you full Stein for any water to interrupt the day outside.
  5. Reading through some ski area history this morning.... does this sound familiar to anyone? The Grinch has been around for a long time. The 1964-65 season got off to a bad start throughout New England, with rainy, 60 degree weather arriving at Christmas. Many areas were placed rough financial shape, including Stowe. Sepp Ruschp estimated Stowe's losses at $700,000.
  6. That was awesome. Barnes came through with the save even after getting a little wild there for a sec with Rowdy. This team is fun to watch, best come from behind win of the season.
  7. Ha, sitting outside in shorts on a summer evening at Sushi Yoshi listening to live music coming from Stowe Cider... while bikers and runners pass by on the Rec Path. Clouds rolled in so temp won’t be dropping fast. It really feels like a summer evening.
  8. He’s good with chainsaws I hear... sleep tight tonight. Great early season heat, perfect start to summer.
  9. Stay strong my friend. Don’t give in to fear.
  10. 5:30pm BTV 91/38... 15% RH. Arizona style air mass when it’s 90s with dews in the 30s.
  11. Ha, wow. Like 20 degrees cooler than the picnic tables this afternoon.
  12. Sorry dude. Saying goodbye to a furry family member is one of the toughest things to do. I’ll always remember when my last dog told me it was time. Came home from work one night and she didn’t greet me at the door for the first time in 13 years. She was laying in the living room, tail still wagging but couldn’t get up and wouldn’t eat. She knew.
  13. Yeah we warm. First swim of the season in the river... but man is that still cold. Felt hypothermic in like 5 minutes lol. I love this heat... dry, so the shade actually feels refreshing. Sun feels like 90F, shade feels like 70s. Going to drop real fast when the sun goes down. I could do this weather for the next 3 months.
  14. I get it from Mesowest. The site seems to be acting slow right now but when it loads there's an option for the raw METARs and 5-minute observations. https://www.wrh.noaa.gov/mesowest/timeseries.php?sid=kbtv
  15. Yeah you're right, I saw 90F on the 5-minute data. Down to 23% RH too.
  16. Looks like BTV got 90F so far.
  17. Can we hit 90F? Over-the-top heat like last May. 88/48 at MVL. Nothing like dews in the 40s and temps approaching 90F. SSE surface flow at MVL downslopes the airfield pretty good off the Worecester Range (2,500-3,000ft drop). Seems to be getting that site a little drier/hotter.
  18. UFO sightings... Odd that UFO sightings stop at the Mexican and Canadian borders too.
  19. We are their test lab. The ones we've captured on video are just their rookie observers. "Dammit, we told you in your training that you can't be seen by these humans. We're going to have to send you home. Despite your parent's sending you all to the best schools and taking on a ton of debt, not everyone is skilled enough to be a human observer. Some of us just need to work in the trades to keep the mothership running smoothly."
  20. Saw this photo on social of the Killington, VT forest fire. Photo from yesterday.
  21. Can’t ask for much more. No reason to stay inside ever if it’s not going to rain. She’s a hot one today... 81/52 at MVL already at 1115am.
  22. Crazy. 6 no-hitters in MLB through 5/19.
  23. Yeah for sure. Guests are only required to follow CDC/VT Guidelines. It's a personal choice now if you travel/visit. The issue is employees and the local economy coming into what is going to be an insane warm season (summer/fall) tourism season. What's attractive to a person getting summer employment? Most of the wedding spots/hotel venues have 2-3 big weddings scheduled per week. Mid-week Thur, Fri, Sun night weddings will be a big thing this summer, as the Saturday dates are all filled. All the postponed destination weddings are going full-tilt this summer at all of the higher-end properties/resorts. How they handle employee mask wearing will be a big factor in employment level and associated service level.
  24. We are too. But I think it'll drop after the company has a chance to digest everything. The national/multinational companies are trying to figure out if they follow local or federal guidance, too. Need to give the legal teams time to look at it too. As usual, I'm largely concerned about hitting short-term staffing levels and the service industry will see some competition between jobs requiring masks and those that don't this summer. If you are going to get paid the same amount, most vaccinated folks (I'd assume) will opt for the job that doesn't require a mask IMO. Some folks may still want jobs with masks required regardless of vaccination status, but that viewpoint is no where near as prevalent as its sometimes said to be. I'm sure a lot of businesses nationwide will be dealing with that, mask policy and hiring potential in the short term.
