  1. I dunno, I don’t expect total unrestricted free speech on these platforms. Whether it’s AMWX or Reddit. We sign up to these platforms and agree to them having complete control over the content. We are more than welcome to create our own platform...and *that* is free speech.
  2. It’s still a private company. What’s wrong is we as humans put all our eggs into these companies and then think of it as free speech. Maybe the gov’t needs to come up with a free public social platform. I don’t know the answer but we are using private companies to share our voices. Social media is a user opt-in platform, not a right.
  3. I’m with you. I love seeing the tables turned on some of these experts. Shows the power of Reddit... same with when TicTock users bought tickets to Trump rallies. Large groups on the internet can collectively have a big impact. I laugh every time I think of Game Stop... what an obsolete store. Like Blockbuster and movies, all video games are purchased and downloaded now. There is zero reason for a brick and mortar store. It’s hilarious watching the Reddit trading groups absolutely hose the big traders with massive losses for many short sellers.
  4. Union and Staffordville? Trying to think of other hill towns but coming up blank...
  5. Gotcha. Yeah that’s interesting for sure. I’ve got some feelers out to see if the GPS data is available. I can see every cat pass at Stowe and what time it was made and by whom, ha. Even snow depths under the cats. I love that technology.
  6. Looks like all their greens were groomed? I’ll try to see if I can see the GPS data on when. My guess is summit was groomed out of the gate at 4pm and then snow fell on top of it. Which goes to the age old question if groomed and snow falls on it, do you remove it from the grooming list? We used to get hammered calling stuff groomed when it then snows overnight and Guest Services gets bombarded with “you say 65 groomed trails and I couldn’t find one of them!” Lynx, Polecat, Upper Catapult, Middle Wildcat and Bobcat are groomed with some fresh powder --- nice.
  7. Late to the observation but only an inch at home and 1.5" at High Road Stake at 3,000ft. We got caught between the lift to the south and that mid-level band that went from like Jay Peak through NEK into the N.NH crew.
  8. There's been a nice band from N.VT through your area. Buddy a few towns north in Eden says he's got 3" of fluff so far and mid-level banding has been aimed your way. 18z EURO had the signal of some arcing band of higher fluff.
  9. I think next week looks good at this point for you guys. Hopefully the SW CT crew can cash in. The signal is fairly strong for a storm.
  10. Does everyone have security cameras? Interesting. Around an inch of fluff this evening up this way.
  11. Every time there's an easterly flow discussion you bring up that storm, ha. Must've made an impression.
  12. Those old school crude SD U-Wind maps were/are great. Not sure where one finds that though.
  13. Light snow up here. A half inch dusting so far.
  14. Haha yeah, people have been walking out to see it and said it’s now frozen under 3” of new ice. I can’t imagine being in the dark on the water in a truck and then have it go through... quite the “oh shit” moment. Second only to the reaction of getting the bill afterwards when they have to fish your truck out of the lake lol.
  15. That’s a pretty crazy mean for this far out. To get pockets of 0.30” QPF in 6-hr panels at this lead time...
  16. Gene posted some good shots on FB of the lake ice, hopefully he can share here. BTV had a graphic about Lake Champlain ice and the little coverage year to date compared to other times. Also in a Darwin Award attempt a couple guys decided to take their truck out on the Lake Champlain ice (Mallots Bay I think?) at 8pm on Sunday night and about 10 minutes later found themselves fighting for their lives to exit the vehicle and get back to dry land.
  17. Nice dude. Grass blades completely covered makes a big difference in wintry appeal. Objective met, ha.
  18. ALB with 2” in 2 hours. +SN. Theres still stuff out west for ya’ll. KALB 262107Z 04003KT 1/4SM R01/2200V2600FT +SN FZFG VV008 M06/M06 A2993 RMK AO2 P0003 T10611061
  19. That’s not a problem because you are comparing snowfall and snow depth. Two different things. 6-inches of snow fell. Your depth at observation time is 1”.
  20. I think of it more as snowfall vs snow depth. For snowfall you are trying to get a measurement of flakes falling from the sky, whereas depth is what lays on the ground. You are looking for 24 hour depth. You can certainly have more snowfall than depth even in 24 hour blocks.
  21. I’m with you two. There has to be a designated time frame and 6-hourlies is what airports did growing up for me. I think of that as the official way to measure snow. Or at least twice a day.
  22. How do you know how he measured it? I always here about how the official measurements at the airports down there are a bit low. Plus 4” of difference in a nor’easter isn’t that much when you are in that 18-24” zone.
  23. An interesting take... I have generally had a much better outlook on this winter at home vs. on the mountain overall. The overall tenor of the season has been lacking at high elevation. Under 1,500-2,000ft has seemed to do better relative to average. Snow on the ground (grass covered) consistency has seemed high this season regardless. Depth hasn't been there except recently... but consistency of snow is worth something. Despite a decent snowpack gain after settling, the local Mansfield stake has been running a decent snow depth day deficit. Say that three times fast, ha. Even after a good cycle/week, the snowpack is still decently below average on the long term site.
