As a kid 70s or 80s that aren’t excessive humid/hot was the sweet spot and still is… street hockey, baseball, football, manhunt, etc. No one wanted to do that stuff at 92/70… you’d be inside the AC playing Nintendo. And as kids I feel like they have a high tolerance, like we’d swim in the lake in CT at 60F and pouring rain. Didn’t matter the temp. Never do that now lol.

But do they not go outside at 75F vs 90F? I’d almost think kids are more likely to play outside when it’s not blistering hot.

We changed to rain earlier but back to snow now at the base of the ski area. Cold wrapping back in.

Wow at the temperature gradient across N.VT.... Island Pond, Gallup Mills, usual very cold spots in NE VT are 50-55F right now, while BTV is 34F with light sleet. Newport, VT near 50F too at the Canadian border. Wild.

That's awesome. Good move to head up for the snowstorm. There has to be zero people there.

Two friends in Elmore, VT just northeast of here both reporting like 7-8" at elevations of like 1200-1400ft. Said more than the ski area. Looks like they got crushed in about 3 hours of 2"/hr or more.

Got 5-6" it seems up at 1,500ft. Nice drive with mainly wet roads and just caked trees.

Yeah man the QPF amounts were pretty crazy. I never would've guessed most of the spots would be over 1" water last night. It didn't start precipitating until like 2am. I'm not sure I've ever seen this type of QPF rates with snowfall at the local MVL ASOS. KMVL 191054Z AUTO 36008KT 1/4SM +SN FG VV003 01/M01 A2970 RMK AO2 PRESFR SLP061 P0035 Heavy snow with 0.35" in the bucket in an hour. That's bonkers. It was like the atmosphere was vomiting moisture for a couple hours there.

The BGM obs are solid. 0.65” QPF in 3-hours at 31F. They are getting crushed.

58/16 quickly to 46/20 and dropping rapidly. Wet bulbing from evaporational cooling taking place long before precip starts falling.

Truth... everyone knows when they get good gusts to 40+ into bare trees but if trees aren't getting ripped out of the ground did it ever really blow?

It's how deep the ground freezes. It's worse the colder the climate. The ground thaws from the surface downward, but because the ground’s lower layers deep underground don’t warm as quickly and remain frozen, water from melting snow and chilly spring rains aren’t able to seep down very far. Instead, this water sits near the surface where it waterlogs the top layer of soil and creates a sea of mud.

This air mass is wild dry.... very rare to see RH go under 20% around these parts. Can you say wet-bulbing tonight. 57/13 at MVL for 17% RH. 57/10 at MPV for 15% RH.

Going to Long Island Wednesday morning ugh, ha. Man what a day today… they let employees ski while Patrol does hill clean up. Did a full overnight groom and it’s like Yellowstone Club out here. Employees only and Quad spinning with perfect corn.

I like 3-6” for N.Greens early Tuesday morning with the warm conveyor belt lifting through… then dry slot, rain/mixed and some mid/30s dripping. Ending with 1-2”… 4-8” above 1500ft with mix/mild in the middle.

Easter Sunrise Service from the top of the Gondola this morning... into the Mtn Ops office at 3:45am but the sunrise was worth it. Estimated about 500 people joined us. 22F and some wind, it felt like winter.

18z ECMWF couldn't be more on brand for this winter. Low tracks up into NNH with best mid-level lift up eastern NY into the Adirondacks. Lows just want to cut inland this winter?

There are comments saved somewhere from WWBB… I’ll look for them. Maybe you were just trying to fit in. You asking folks why they enjoyed heat and humidity, because it just led to folks staying inside with AC. Drier air was better for outdoor activities.

Growing up, lol. I do think it's interesting to hear how all of our preferences have evolved over the long term... as there's a core of wx forum members going back two decades or more. We've all evolved in what we like at different times of years. Hell, DIT even used to troll people who wanted it hot in the summer.

Buddy in Killington getting healthy snowfall. He’s at like 1900ft. A nice elevation to be at this week.
