  1. I’m annoyed with no power to the Snow Cam currently, ha. The Lookout Plot isn’t live. I can’t wait to see what’s at the High Rd plot. But man we are getting spoiled when my biggest power outage grip is I can’t see that live cam at 3,300ft. Even if it underreports in wind, you start to adjust expectations based on a numerical value. 3” on that cam is a damn fine time. There’s 4” in my yard. We are flying blind . Truly first world problems during a power outage.
  2. Wild for 40s in Maine, mid-20s here, and single digits NYC and sub-zero in PA. Not something you see often.
  3. Gregg Hill has a ton of those massive White Pines too on the north end of the road. We lost power per my wife around same time of 830-9am and got it back around 5pm. Luckily we are on Mountain Road and with all the hotels, restaurants, businesses they seem to focus on getting that back first. However, the Mountain still doesn't have power down through Topnotch. Not sure what happens tomorrow at the ski area as we are delaying opening indefinitely until we can figure out a plan tomorrow. The snow really helps. Closing in on 4" here. It's caked to everything like you said. Beautiful. Fresh white Christmas saved.
  4. What a day in BTV too.... gusted 70mph (2nd highest ever recorded since 1882 there). This evening just ripping off M1/4sm visibility Heavy Snow and Wind during the flash freeze. 6. This was just latitude and longitude... which I guess is often the case in winter climo, ha. Further north and further west. "Up and in" except in coastal patterns. Champlain Valley getting good snows too. Fairly widespread 3-5" behind the cold front. Anafrontal rarity that wasn't really upslope either but synoptic driven. With the 1.5" this morning on front end, we could end up adding ~6" to the season total in this, along with damaging winds.
  7. Yeah your obs earlier surprised me but I guess it was coming. All in 3 hours so far over 1”/hr.
  8. Over 3” here so far this evening. Just dumping. Sticking to the wet trees. Holiday miracle.
  9. Awesome. Ripping heavy snow at the local ASOS here. KMVL 232354Z AUTO 02004KT 1/4SM +SN FZFG VV003 M03/M05 A2885 RMK AO2
  10. Power is back at home, phew. Mountain is still out though. Town got crushed. Debris everywhere. Gas station filled with folks filing gas cans.
  11. This is your true "Shut 'em Down" event. Only time I can ever remember Stowe closing for the day. No power at the mountain or in town, trees down everywhere. 130mph max wind gust at Mansfield summit. 70 mph at BTV airport (I think it was Hurricane Hazel that had higher gust speed on record than this event?). Everyone seems to be without power around these parts.
  12. Solid 3” of concrete paste at 1500ft. Roads were atrocious. It was like driving through a thick slush puppy. Even in a big SUV the vehicle was getting tossed by the slush.
  13. Yeah western slopes already getting 40mph gusts well in advance of the strong LLJ. Up this way this is a prime home station to watch, owned by a NWS member. Gusted 39mph past half hour. They come right off Bolton Valley area down to 800ft elevation. https://nashvillevtweather.net Snowing outside in Stowe, maybe an inch?
  14. Yeah, hoping for the best as that’s essentially BTV suburb area it gets into. Never want to go into Christmas without power… or a roof.
  15. From BTV: The low level jet will peak during the morning hours, most likely between 4 AM and 9 AM, which will likely be so strong that it will break through the mountain barrier regardless of stability. As a result, dangerous wind gusts will occur well away from the higher terrain. Looking at model data reveals very strong 925 east-southeast winds increasing into the 70 to perhaps 90 knot range along the corridor from Essex Junction to Middlebury, supporting peak winds in excess of 65 MPH. Multiple long- time forecasters have not seen winds at this pressure level at this magnitude in our region.
