So in their genius, the Yankees deliberately threw at Gunnar last night. He ends up scoring, making the game 5-1. The Yanks did tie it 5-5 in the 9th to lose in the 10th.
You don't hit Gunnar on purpose, you win. Good job.
He's definitely lost right now. That being said in the past 30 days only O'Hearn, Adley, Cowser and Gunnar have an OBP above .300. They have to get some patience at the plate
Boston: 0/6 in their last Game 7s, haven't won a Game 7 since 2012-13 (against Toronto that they almost blew a 3-1 lead)
Toronto:0/6 in their last winner take all games (2020 Bubble playoffs they lost in Game 5 in the prelim round), haven't won a Game 7 since 2003-04.
The moveable object versus the resistible force.
Juan Soto "I didn't like Kremer's shuffle, I bet he didn't like the homer either". You lost. Shut up. As if the Yankees could get anymore insufferable.
I'll say it again: The Blues would have been the 8 seed in the East, yet missed the playoffs by 6 points in the West. The Caps really had no business in the playoffs.
This feels like Game 162 of 2011 all over again.
Caps win - in
Caps lose (in any fashion) and Red Wings win - Detroit in
Caps and Detroit loses and Penguins win - Pittsburgh in
Then there's Philly. Philly has to beat the Caps in regulation, and hope the Pens and Wings lose in regulation. Philly is in on the FIFTH tiebreaker.
Last 4 games are tough too. Buffalo, Tampa, Boston, Philly. Also a -40 goal difference? That would be one of the worst for a playoff team ever. (Meanwhile the Blues are out of the playoffs in the West and would be in the 2nd WC in the East)
