Seeing how we swing the pendulum back to almost winter again next week, I'm beginning to think this summer is going to be a roller coaster ride of hot one week, cool/cold the next.

I was just going to say that there's a good one going near Palmerton. They're using helicopters to scoop water out of the Lehigh River to fight it.

Yesterday's winds were so bad that I lasted only two innings at my grandson's HS baseball game in Stroudsburg. They were cold, and blowing from left field to right field and right into my face.

62 over a forecast high of 57. It got nice late, but this morning was another story. Drove to East Stroudsburg to see my grandson's baseball game. I lasted 2 innings. The cold, in your face wind, was just too much to take.

0.03" here. That line must have fallen apart before it got here.

I hope the sun burns these clouds off this morning...

So, this summer our local Reading and Northern Railroad will be hosting the massive Union Pacific Big Boy steam engine as it makes its way from Scranton to Philly. A special excursion will run behind the Big Boy from Nesquehoning to Pittston. Meanwhile our own stream engine (the 2102) will also be running in conjunction with it. After that, it appears that the Big Boy will run the rest of the Reading and Northern trackage to Reading and then eventually Philly. If it does this, it'll pass through Tamaqua along the way. It's going to be one hell of a railroad and steam event.

I've been a train fan since I was a kid. One of my dreams was to have a basement model railroad, but so far it hasn't happened.

Bumping this thread to ask if anyone on the forum is at all interested in steam trains. If so, I'll post some really cool information!

I know. I was being somewhat facetious, trying to lighten my own mood. I've not been feeling well the past couple months, both physically and mentally. I'm actually at the docs right now, hoping he'll set up a barrage of testing, from imaging, to blood, to a cancer screen, to see why I'm in the current state I'm in.

Trying to figure out why it takes 3-5 days to warm up, but only 12 hours to get cold...

Honestly, I'd be fine with 50 in the winter and 85 in the summer.

I really can't wait for backdoor cold front season to end. I went out for our coffee and breakfast sandwiches, and the dark, cloudy, murky, foggy, cold and damp look and feel made me instantly depressed.

59 now after a high of 79. Whe we went to dinner is was summer. When we came out it was fall.
