if i remember right, you moved in over the summer last year? i think you may have missed black fly season up there. it's usually April down here, so i suspect you will start seeing them mid-April into late may. The hornets were looking for a nice place to build a home in the eaves of your house. they love the sunny warm sides. it's hard to keep them away, you just have to keep them from building a nest.

i know, it is pretty dumb how some people like to have a nice looking lawn and yard.

a friend of my family (50 years old) got the 'vid. he was in ICU, on a ventilator, etc. Was in the hospital for over 2 months, plus 2 weeks of rehab. it was touch and go, and for a while, the docs were not very confident that he would even survive. They were preparing his wife/family for the worst. I'd take a 24-48 hour fever and a missed day or 2 of work from vaccine side effects in a cocaine heartbeat over catching the 'vid.

i think Ryan stated upthread that the goal of the initial lockdowns was the "flatten the curve" to protect the collapse of our healthcare system. it worked for the most part. the goal was never to have zero covid cases, but that seems to be Fauci's want right now, which again as stated above, is impossible. The vaccines don't even 100% protect you from getting covid. However they are 99+% at preventing severe cases of covid, which is really good. But the messaging out there has not reached the general public, aside from us educated folks. It needs to be stated clearly and frequently that even though you have gotten the vaccine, you may still get covid. Twitter is going to go haywire the first time that someone who has gotten the vaccine gets covid.

in Pittsburg this week. trails are definitely thin in spots. The snowcover is of the light and fluffy variety, so trails look like they get washed out not long after the groomer goes by. up at elevation there is a ton of snow so it’s better up high. A lot of treble, not a lot of bass, as the cool kids say.

Not too far to your north was a decent snow event. it was snowing decently in Errol, and up here in Pittsburg picked up a solid 3” looks like a bobcat to me.
