  1. Not sure why EC is still calling for 4-6" of snow in Niagara. Most models and other forecasters have dropped the amount down to dusting-2" EC should probably issue snow squall watches for Fort Erie-Niagara Falls, I'm thinking someone in southern Niagara region gets 8-12" from LES
  2. Im going to say someone hits 70-75 next week in the midwest. Not sure how far northeast that warmth can get but I expect a few places in Ohio to get in the low 60s.
  3. slightly premature i'll admit. Hoping to get 10cm here on hamilton mountain with the system today/tonight. This week will most likely be the most winter week of the year. Winter storm warnings down to deep south and severe cold in the north. However, that warm up in February is starting to peak my interest. Some local meteorologists are starting to discuss 50F and above starting next week. I'm not sold on that type of warmth yet, but February last year had a few days in the 60s and in 2017 February had an extended period of warmth of 50s-70s across the midwest and great lakes. I still expect a few more snow events and cold weather, but I think next week might be the breaking of winters back.
  4. Looks like rain for most of the GTA and WNY now, most likely taking away the last bit of the snow pack followed by -10F and bare ground. Im offically throwing the towel. Im done with winter 2018-2019.
  5. At least you guys are cashing in on some good snow. Waiting for the possible storm monday-tuesday and now its looking like mostly rain event for GTA and WNY, followed by the freezer. Just cant catch a break
  6. Last storm brought about 18 hours of above 32F and destroyed a 7" snow pack down to about 1". We've slowly got the snow pack back to about 3-4" but it wont be able to withstand another deluge of rain and warmth.
  7. Interesting to see how the offices are reading the models. NWS Buffalo AFD is going with the further north version and bringing in rain chances for a lot of their area, but keeping those closest to the border and lake ontario snowier.
  8. Normally I would agree but I believe the pattern were in right now will continue. Nuisance clippers with stronger systems pushing the arctic air out fast leaving us with rain. I'm not sure why there's so much hype regarding big snow cover and consistent cold over the eastern great lakes when that pattern has been advertised for weeks but never gets fully entrenched.
  9. Ya, 7" of snow is now down to about 1.5" left with still several more hours left of warmth to go. With more rain in the forecast next week for the GTA this winter is about a C-
  10. haha ffs. I would be at a loss if of words if we see rain again. freezer-rain-freezer-rain-freezer. GTA cant catch a break
  11. Ill be the first to say it. I'm already looking for the first hints of spring weather on the models. This winter has been a dud in the GTA and I'm ready to move on from it.
  12. Buffalo AFD mentions that this system could be rain for WNY and the GTA.
  13. Still a ways away but surprised you guys aren't talking about the potential snowstorm/historic cold that could be coming in 5-7 days. I'm not fully sold on the system yet but it definitely looks good as of right now
  14. Definitely a big return to colder temperatures after this brief thaw, but I'm just not buying into this hype train yet of clippers. I'm thinking the GTA will be lucky to average about 1-2" a week in this cold pattern which is an improvement over the first half of met winter, but half inch clippers every 3 days doesn't do the same justice in February as it does in December. Essentially this looks like a cold boring pattern with not even headline worthy clippers (for the northern non lake effect regions)
  15. Up to 29F, first batch of precip is on the doorstep. Going to enjoy tracking this one even if its a mix bag because its zzzz after this for the next 7+ days
  16. If you dont mind me asking, whats the fetch off Georgian Bay looking like? I'm going to be up in the Muskoka/Parry Sound area this weekend and WSW wind normally crushes them up there as well (even when Georgian Bay is slightly covered with ice)
  17. Yep, I also enjoy all 4 seasons with summer and winter the most. So I'm personally about 3-4 weeks away from starting to shake winter off and start dreaming of 80s-90s and humidity. The last few springs have been awful so if winter isn't good I hope for a dry warm spring
  18. I guess all depends on what you want. I'm more in the winter activity (outdoor hockey, snowmobiling) and I like sustained snow cover. Which is tough to get this far south, but to have a rainstorm only 3 days after the GTA first snowstorm is pretty bad haha. This winter has been a major joke, mostly due to the hype it received all fall about big storms and sustained cold. Kind of like following a sports team that gets hyped up but falls flat, stings a bit more compared to a team you knew wasn't going to do much.
  19. Ill be following SE MI closely tonight. The models have shifted just enough now that were going to get everything in the GTA. Looks like a widespread 2-3" snow followed by several hours of freezing rain followed by about 8-12 hours above 32F. The local media isnt discussing this system at all and since the forecast says 40F and rain during the day the public doesnt seem aware that tomorrow mornings commute is snow and freezing rain. Should be interesting
  20. haha ya browsing the other subs. The weather network up here is also starting to mention that February should be colder than average but that confidence is fading in that regard. They mention that a prolonged thaw might pop up in early-mid February.
  21. So first snowstorm of the year 4-8" in the GTHA is about to be wiped out by a 12 hour rain storm followed by cold and dry conditions. Theres now talk of the pattern in February and March not being great/warm. Times a dwindling on this winter, within the next month averages start to quickly go up and spring is near. On that note, any hints at what Spring/Summer will entail?
  22. could have been worse. For a while there it looked like Toronto would get only 1"
  23. Ill gladly take freezing rain from this system.
  24. Not to go off topic regarding the storm but the windchills following the storm are going to be impressive. -36F monday morning in Toronto, Environment Canada calling for frostbite within minutes, first time ive ever seen that.
  25. Staying up to follow this storm for a bit longer. Tight cutoff in the GTA area. Temperature dropped from 15F to 5F in 2 hours here on Hamilton Mountain Good luck to those in WNY and CNY, looking forward to seeing some of the totals you guys get.
