  1. I feel optimistic that I might have something to actually measure next week. Love my NWF. Thanks for the update man!
  2. Welcome! This is the seasonal forecast that one of our board's meteorologist, HVWard, put out about a week ago. He's a good one to follow on fb too. https://www.ashevillewx.com/weatherupdate/2019/10/16/2019-2020-ashevillewx-winter-weather-forecast
  3. So the euro took a step towards the GFS on next weekend's potential snow this afternoon. Widespread accumulation across the high country and minor accumulations for many in WNC.
  4. You're talking my language, Hunter! I think Wolf Ridge will be making snow next week with this air mass coming in.
  5. Today's 12z Canadian model was quite different from the GFS. Interesting to see what the Euro shows today.
  6. Down to 25.2 with a coating as well. Almost a 40 degree change since midday.
  7. Currently snowing and 29.5° at 4400' in Wolf Laurel.
  8. Just shot this out the front door. Theres some sleet mixed in from time to time as well but it's mostly snow.
  9. I had a high of 63° around 1230 and I'm down to 40° 5½ hours later. That's a really impressive fropa!
  10. Yeah I saw GSP has it in my forecast now as well. 3km Nam looked promising!
  11. Well, leaf season is wrapping up in the high country. Shot this while walking the dogs at lunch.
  12. 12K name and GFS both suggest some backend flurries are possible in the favored border areas overnight Thursday into early Friday morning. And this weekend looks downright cold.
  13. Got out and enjoyed the foliage one more time before the wind comes in tonight. Went to Spivey Gap and Green Mountain along the Cane River. Was not disappointed!
  14. Possible 50+ mph gusts tomorrow night above 3500' with the rain. That'll strip a lot of leaves for sure. 15. First, amazing pics yesterday. Yeah, 3-4000' is really filling in with color in Yancey and Madison Counties. Took this at McKinney Gap this afternoon with my phone.
  16. It is a perfect October day in the high country! Here's one of the shots I grabbed in the neighborhood today. I noticed that a lot of the reds that just popped up a few days ago are already turning brown. That's okay, I've had my fill of leaf season...bring on the snow!
  17. Clouds kept the view at my house (on the mountain the dslr is pointing at) obscured for most of today, but just a mile away it cleared up nicely! Turned out to be a really nice fall day with temps in the mid 50's. The leaf color is really beginning to accelerate down to 3000' up here.
  18. All of this cold rain is great news. I can hear the streams rushing in the neighborhood tonight. That's been absent for a couple of months.
  19. The GFS still has the first flakes of the season around next weekend. It'll be interesting to see if there's support from other models in the next few days.
  20. A breezy 31° this morning at 4400' in Wolf.
  21. I was just about to add that I've dropped from 56 to 48 in the past 45 minutes. The fireplace will be lit when I get home today!
  22. Pulled thus off my dashcam as well about an hour ago. This is in Wolf around 3800'. I'm noticing a lot more red in the canopy today, especially above 4000'.
  23. It was 50° when I left my house at 7 am. By the time I got to Burnsville (1600' lower) it was 35° with frost in places again. I love those inversions! Pulled this off my dashcam from the ride this morning.
