  1. Yeah an hour or three at or below freezing doesn't bother me much. Pretty much everything I planted is coming up, even the seeds that were two or three years old are doing their thing. I put in a bunch of stuff today. Veggies and flowers, flowers and veggies... We should have a garden 2021 thread.
  2. That .2" the other day was pretty useless, we need a good soaker. Everything is leafing out, grass is popping and it has been windy so the soil is dry, even 4-6" down it's moist not wet.
  3. Looks like I got down to 32 this morning, it's 49 now.
  4. I saw 30 at about 6am, flurries this afternoon even this far SE. It's cold and uncomfortable out there... I don't like wind but it is doing a heckuva job of drying things out from the (huge) .2" of rain yesterday. High temp today was 47 but it sure doesn't feel like it, 44 now.
  5. It got down to 30 here on the hill this morning so 72>30 in less than 18 hours. Nice. Rain varied from ..2-.3 yesterday. The wet ground is steaming in the sun now (which is always cool to watch ) and the light wind is drying it out quickly.
  6. 68-47 in about 20 minutes but it did hit 72 this morning before the clouds really thickened up so 72 this morning to ?? tonight. Will I see a 40* drop in less than a day? It's down to 40 already.
  7. Meh, basic frontal passage but there was 4-5 minutes of pea size hail, actually it was more like caper size Sun is back out now and the temp is up 5° in the last 10 minutes.
  8. Pea sized hail, infrequent CTG, and a 21° temp drop in just a few minutes.
  9. Wind came up a little while ago, dark clouds are moving in now and the temp is down at least 10° already with little spits of moisture with the bigger gusts.
  10. This warm/cold thing is frustrating. I have so many things I want to plant and keep getting tempted during the day when it's warm but know that I should wait until these cold nights end. So, instead of planting I'm getting all sorts of yard work done, stuff that's been building up for a couple of years is getting cleaned up, cut up and buried. I'm cutting tree crown branches over 3-4" into 5 foot lengths and laying them down along the fence lines then topping with leaves, brush and soil and turning them into planting beds, I'll fill the perimeter of the yard with things like sunflowers and milkweed. Today the kids old swingset is coming down and it will be used to build some great new beds and stuff for the garden.
  11. Why am I not remembering that as a stand out storm? There were too many great ones for a few years and they've all blended together. Either that or I'm getting old
  12. I think it was more like 1.2 based on a couple of other local stations, that one was an outlier (albeit not by much). It was a very wet day. So far today it has been dry and breezy but now it's raining again.
  13. 1.2 total 37° here now. Looks like it might be white drizzle.
  14. ~1.4" so far. Temp is 44, I dunno about it getting cold enough for white stuff. Maybe but I don't see it.
  15. Still under 1" for the last 36 hours. We've had some periods of fairly heavy rain and the roads have a fair bit of standing water, temp is still ~50°.
  16. I think you'll be better off spending similar time in the car but going to the Berkshires instead.
  17. I put my shovels away yesterday and I'm going to wash the cars today. Based on how well my garlic is doing I should have put way more in. I only have about a dozen going. Gonna go big next year. Root veggies are popping out of the ground today.
  18. .55 or so for the 2 days so far. It's been a slow soak so it really did some good, things are wet from the top down with no dry layer so when this cool shot moves on the garden ought to be off to the races. Right now the garlic planted in Novber is going great, the herbs in the ground/pots from last year are coming back strong and half the brassicas I put in 4 days ago are starting to sprout! I just got a new chain, now I can just get the existing one sharpened and keep rotating them. Now I gotta get a second battery so I can switch them out too and really get some wood processed.
  19. I was really hoping the nice weather would win out over what has become a typical late season game over the recent past. It has been so nice for the last 5 or 6 weeks that I don't think I'll be excited if the "best case" scenarios play out. I guess as long as it's not a hard freeze I'll be ok with it but I'd rather it stay above 50
