  1. You should have seen that spot 30 years ago when the glacier was a couple hundred feet thick in that bowl and spilled over the cliff down the gully above the waterfall. It was spectacular. The peak in the right background was completely covered with no rocks showing at all right down to treeline except for southerly spines in late summer where the rocks would show through. The difference is staggering to me I'm glad I saw it back when... Kind of a nice day today. Not so great for outdoor stuff but in the same way it kind of was because it's so cool out. Ehh, saving on the AC so I'll take it.
  2. Passing 1" now. It only started about a half hour ago and it's still coming down in buckets. We had to get a new septic tank 2 weeks ago so the front yard is still bare dirt. The top inch or so has turned the street brown and is starting to flow into the downhill neighbors yards. They're not gonna be happy
  3. Rain!! Big time rain. The weather guy didn't get my request I guess.
  4. ^^Yup it's ugly. I've had a whopping .07 for the week so far. While the rest of you have been inside watching it rain I've been outside watering the garden to keep the dust down.
  5. Most cars from the last 20 years are really close but I'm good with a +/-2* variance. In most of mine over that time they've barely been off if the car is moving fast enough to have some airflow behind the bumper cover or grill where they're usually located. I was hoping for some rain today but I'm starting to wonder if it's even going to happen. Enough so that I'm on the way outside to water the garden.
  6. Stayed dry again yesterday, hoping for some wetness today. Not too much but a half inch or so would be nice and not all at once please. Thanx. Two of the stations on my hill went over 100 yesterday. One has the station on the roof though so unless it's covered with snow it's always wrong, the other is well placed and it hit 101 with the others all at 98 or 99. I saw 100 or higher in a few spots on the dash yesterday too.
  7. ^^ Dude it was 100 or more in several spots around here yesterday and this morning when I started my truck the engine temp was 101.7 in the first 8 seconds when the gauge started reading indicating an air temp on that sunny spot was at least 100. Some of my plants came through yesterday ok but today it's more bleak even though I stood there misting each bed for 15 to 20 minutes. Wilt is the name of the game
  8. Dry here. Looks like you're gonna get banged around a bit later. I'm hoping it's just wet here, gotta be out and doing stuff later and it would be a hassle dealing with storm damage and such.
  9. Not bad but not midsummer warm yet. The beach has really shrunk over the last few years, it can't even be 100 feet wide in most places anymore. If it got as crowded as it used to there wouldn't even be room for all the people. We saw 100-101 on the dash in a bunch of places along the Merritt Pkwy on the way home yesterday.
  10. It never topped 80 on the beach at Misquamicut yesterday. That was nice.
  11. That windstorm in September last year took out my 10 foot tall corn. That sucked. Heavy rain the last few days took down a couple of my lettuce towers because they got top heavy. The lettuce just keeps growing without bolting because it hasn't really warmed up yet. Are the gypsy moths bad by you? I saw an aerial shot from Sharon yesterday and it was ugly, like winter stick season ugly.
  12. .39 definitely not severe but some heavy rain and a good light show. I was outside as the front approached and I guess due to the storms they altered things and I was right in the flight path for HPN. It was like a train of planes about a minute apart all screaming in, under power, and diving into the clouds with lightning all around. It was pretty cool.
  13. Soggy, summery, steamy... Yuck. When you have to get up to turn the temp down on the AC at 2am it sucks.
  14. That means the beach or a good pool has to be accessible. Sure there are some nice beaches on the lakes but when it's 90° or more they're just as unpleasant as the backyard. I'll take 75 any day.
  15. ~I80 corridor = the new sunbelt
  16. Shhh... They'll hear you and move here.
  17. You guys are fkd up 70-75 is so much nicer than hot and steamy. I understand appreciating the extremes but why root for unpleasant?
  18. Lol. Yeah it started with such promise and turned meh too quickly. I guess it saves $ when the ac doesn't have to run...
  19. Pretty good day to mow the lawn though, not all hot and sweaty.
