1.5 with heavy rain for the last half hour or so. I'm betting there's some flooded roads below me on the hill, it's really coming down.

Oh yeah - ~.8" so far, no wind and no drama. I like the no damage thing but it hasn't been much of a storm.

I was wondering if that was still active, it never shows up on searches. I remember seeing historical reports and obs from there (before my time ).

I've had some moderate to very occasionally heavy rain but it's mostly been pretty light and steady most of the day. Up to ~.8 around the hill. We were out for a while earlier and there's some damage, power was out in most of the Carmel shopping district from a downed power line and there were a few rotten branches down but that's it. Of all the places a hurricane could end up in, central CT and moving WNW is not where I would have expected. Weather is a trip...

That would really depend on when this thing stops moving WNW and turns to the N or NE wouldn't it? I'd be ok if it just moved out or fizzled...

These Floyd references being thrown around are disturbing. I've seen some heavy duty rain, 11" in an afternoon in Cordova AK was pretty intense but, Floyd was 14+ in just a few hours. I don't need to see that again. Irene devastated the Catskills and you can still see the scars in VT. We don't need any of that either. Guess I need to go fill some gas cans in the morning, this is looking like a power going out kind of storm. Yay.

Ahh, thanx for asking I spent an hour or so staking and tying the tomato plants up a little better because a bunch of them had flopped over. I should know if the kinks in the stems and stalks affect things but as of now they look pretty good. I did manage to pull a half dozen nice ones today so that's good. The peppers are mostly ok but one shed all of it's blooms and the small peppers that had already set I think the melons are in love with all the water and the warmth, the bees are totally enjoying it! Strawberries are happy (and tasty) and the raspberries set another whole round of berries Looks like I hit 2", highest total in a few months.

Average of the stations on my hill is 1.9" since midnight.

Flooding - check Tornado warned - check 1.5" so far, gutters overflowed, street was a river that completely overwhelmed the storm drains and ran over into the downhill side yards. I'm afraid to look at the garden...

The heat over the weekend seems to have kicked things into high gear here. Tomatoes, peppers, strawberries, beans and melons are going crazy. The herbs that haven't gone to flower are very happy and the flowers are incredible all over the yard. Once I got some water into stuff they all got happy.

See what ya can do to keep Citi Field dry on Friday evening. Thanx

Sorry all, I've been hiding on the beach on Fire Island. I gave the garden a good soaked before sunrise Friday morning hoping my kids would water this morning or it would rain today. Apparently it rained last night?

I really don't have any way to know what's up with the well until it's too late. The depth it goes to though is about where the local reservoirs are at and they're bankfull so my hope is always that I'm tapping that resource. I'm probably wrong... I haven't even had a quarter inch combined for the month. I've had to water just about every day.

Lots of low rumbling thunder here too for the last hour and change but no rain.

It got to about 90 earlier while I was out and about but now a pretty thick cloud deck moved in and it's back to the mid 80s but it's stuffy, muggy and unpleasant. The .04" this morning was about useless for the garden.

Yup sun is out and it's heating up and drying out.

.04 so far this am and another line is about to pass through. Very unpleasant with 70/69 - 98%RH right now. edit: The second line was a dude, just a bit of drizzle that didn't register. Good thing those few hundredths soaked things, the garden looks very happy but, it's unpleasantly muggy now.

75, overcast and breezy after a wet and foggy night. I like it.

I had a couple of hundredths this morning, ground was dry by 9. There have been a couple of periods of very light drizzle that didn't even wet the ground. It has been just enough moisture to make it really muggy.

Will that move away for the weekend? We have an outdoor event on Fire Island that we've already paid for.
