  1. Looks like 43 was the low here, it stayed above 40 both nights. Can we turn this wind off yet?
  2. Soil temp is finally coming up, tomato seeds and a few others will finally go in tomorrow. I have a bunch of other stuff in but it's a slow start. The berries from last year are going bonkers though and the garlic I put in around early November is big already, some may be able to be used in just a few weeks. It's dry though so things may get dicey a lot earlier this year than usual if we don't get a few good soakings a month, this couple of tenths at a time stuff isn't gonna cut it.
  3. Because they're all so good at reading models...
  4. Sun is peeking through the clouds here now, temps are mid 40s. If it wasn't so windy it might feel sorta springlike...
  5. The soil moisture meter I use in the garden shows on the dry side of moist 3" down and dry at 4". That's 1.5" deeper than last Wednesday when it was at 1.5>3 so this rain did some good but not enough.
  6. It stopped raining here about 2 hours ago. Unless the northern end drifts back this way I'll end at 1.05". 50°, damp and windy isn't what I think of when I think of Mother's Day weekend.
  7. But if you go down 3" it's powdery dry. What deep moisture there was is already sucked out by plants leafing out (in slow motion )
  8. I was gonna say that when LB said excessive rain. The numbers prove that it has been dry but we've gotten enough moisture to keep the surface soft.
  9. That's our conundrum too. The best solution I can come up with is a 38 foot coach with a toy hauler trailer.
  10. .3 but it's wetter than that would indicate.
  11. What a dreary day today was. Soggy all day with a few embedded showers totaled up to a bit under .3. The soil in the garden is dry 3" down.
  12. So go back. That's where I want to end up eventually.
  13. When you have to wear long sleeves and pants because of the mosquitos? We're not going to stop the plethora of stinging critters so if we have to protect ourselves it shouldn't have to be unpleasant because y'all want heat. Nights are supposed to be in the 50s and 60s, not the 70s.
  14. What about HPN, DXR, POU and Stewart?
  15. At this point normal to slightly below is fine. Mid to high 60s will be a wonderful memory in 6 weeks
  16. So again, it's the high lows that make us warmer. At least this time the highs were low enough to temper it and give us an overall lower average temp.
  17. The radar looks more like early December than late April
  18. I'm pretty sure that your sarcasmometer need to be recalibrated
  19. So it's not all transportation contributing equally to that aspect of air pollution. Apparently it's primarily from buses and commercial trucking so, I'm thinking the solution is to get people into their own cars and off the buses and maybe people should disperse across the land rather than cluster into small zones that necessitate a huge number of trucks delivering things like food...
  20. I went there last year, that place is beautiful.
  21. How far off is the new .7 below normal from the previous period?
  22. We heard that Binghamton and the middle of the state got sorta beat up with the snow but I heard from a customer today that we only got a small part of the story. His store has been closed since they closed Saturday because they had no power until this afternoon and may not have internet for another couple of days. He said half the city is still out and the hill country north of the city is a real mess.
  23. There ought to be more than enough surface moisture for full leaf out to happen pretty quickly now.
  24. Flurrying lightly here in Mahopac now.
