  1. Of course, 20 minutes ago I said I've had nothing and 10 minutes later the white rain started.
  2. I didn't know you were up there now. Yeah Patterson has some areas that have significantly different weather than most of the area. Where in the town are you? Here in Mahopac it's 31/29/E6 and it looks and feels like it wants to snow.
  3. I'm ok with this one staying W and N, I have a bunch of driving around the metro to do on Friday.
  4. It never gets dark in our house anymore. The best is when they go to FL for the winter the lights go on a motion sensor so they're constantly going on and off. I need a bb gun
  5. I spent a summer in AK and it was cool to see the sun just barely get down to the horizon overnight.
  6. I was only able to see a few meteors, not because of the moon but the neighbors outrageous amount of outdoor lights. I asked one that has 4 floodlights that are always on to turn them off until after 10 so I could watch the sky and he told me to fk off. He said that's what cars are for and I should get into one and leave There's not much snow on the ground here but it still looks more wintry than just stick season so I guess that's a win.
  7. What about further east on 84 through the higher elevations on this side of the river?
  8. Woah, Forky getting aggressive there. I like it.
  9. I'm more of a layman but with 50 years of learning and observing in person. I've lived all over the country, including a short stint in AK, and have traveled through 43 states so have a fair idea of what thing actually look like. Maybe we should have a Geo-weather thread where we can geek out. If I do it we're guaranteed to get rain
  10. I lived in VT the winter of 84/85 and that January into the first few days of Feb is the coldest stretch I've seen on the east coast. The weather station near campus had a week where it didn't break 0 and a few nights below -30. Granted it was in a hollow but damn, that was some cold ****
  11. First shovel session of the season about to commence Get it cleared off now so what little sun we get later dries it out before it ices over after sunset.
  12. 27/26 E3 cloudy with the (very) occasional random flake. 1.5 on the ground with almost 3 on car and garbage can tops. Our puppy thoroughly enjoyed her first snow edit: It was closer to 2", not 3
  13. It didn't actually stop snowing so I put down almost another inch. Everything is covered, streets are sketchy and with it down to 27° with steady small flakes falling it's filling in all the gaps. It ought to look good in the morning. I guess now the trick is keeping the late week storm cold so we keep the cover for a while.
  14. Same here, about 1", and with the salt they dropped today over the brine from Friday the streets ought to just stay wet now.
  15. Unless I get more I'm gonna call it at ~1". It was a nice wintry day and that's what really matters at this point in the season unless we're looking at a long extended period of cold that will keep the snow around.
  16. The lines at Shop Rite were impressive. So far this has been pretty lackluster. It's warm, although it is finally back down below freezing so it's starting to accumulate better. In the last few minutes the rates really picked up as the temp dropped so the roads are getting covered. It could be interesting driving soon. 29/28 SN E5
  17. Manda's pics could be from here, that's about what it looks like here too. Roads are mostly wet but starting to whiten (they brined a few days ago so it's just starting to wash off), grassy surfaces have about .5 and elevated is around 1". 30/28 SN (small flakes) ENE5
  18. Temp is up a degree or so, wind is light mostly out of the east and it's flurrying with occasional heavier bursts. Still the same coating to a trace it was at sunrise. 30/26° E4
  19. It has been flurrying for a while and it's starting to accumulate on all surfaces now. 30° and wintry
  20. The 90-100% line is so close you guys ought to be able to see the snow from the top of a tall building. That's gonna sting a little
  21. Damn. My kid is supposed to fly home from Rochester on Friday afternoon.
  22. ^^It's everywhere. I still have a half mile or less visibility.
  23. Some of the area might have made up some of the short term deficit but it will take more for longer to get us out of the hole. The soil has moistened but the groundwater levels haven't really come back yet as evidenced by all of the still dry areas that would be marshy and the rivers are really low. The reservoirs are down more than the usual couple of feet they'd be in early winter, some areas look to be as much as 8 feet down, it's going to take a ton of snow and a quick melt to bring them up quickly.
