7 days straight now. Yesterday was white rain for a few minutes as the drizzle moved and there were flurries here about 2 hours ago for a little while. I wish we didn't have to have this upcoming reset but it's early yet.
-
I get the feeling that I'm just a hair too far southeast for the snow today too. Maybe I'll get fringed for a few minutes to get it to 6 days straight. That would be nice.
-
Yup it's snowed here every day this week too.

4:20 actually

While it has been warmish the last few afternoons and is headed there again quickly today it's still decidedly winter here. This morning was the second in a row with more fresh snow, not much either day but a nice little whitener. I also still have lots of ice on branches and bushes but I expect that to mostly go away today if the sun stays out. I surely won't retain anything of the 4" of frozen stuff with any kind of warmup but we're deep into stick season and this storm was enough to send everything into full on winter mode. Re: this mornings snow - While yesterday was really just a dusting today it would have been measurable had I gone out and done so. .3" would be a fair eyeball call.

It's flurrying but you have to look towards a light just right and be patient
-
Low of 22 before the clouds thickened up, it has been a fairly quick rise to 26. Was it supposed to be flurrying this morning? It's not amounting to much but the white refresher is nice along the crusty stuff by the street.

Make sure you have fuel for your leaf blower because when snow is that fluffy it's fun to just blow it away. Not sure if that was the thought you were looking for but ...

^^ I dunno about that 4.5 here in Mahopac. I'm on one of the higher hills in town and I think that 4" is optimistic for what I got. Maybe over along the Taconic in the high country being a few miles west of me did better.

At least it's nice looking through the iced up trees on a sunny day. Hey, I'm trying to find the good part of a day of white rain, rain and sleet during a prime winter storm going on all around me. @Juliancolton it makes me feel better that I'm not alone here
-
That means you also have lots of water for snowmaking. Gonna have to thoroughly coat the place and bug out the neighbors. I think my 4" eyeball measurement was a bit optimistic. Even on top of the 1/2" ice base it's really more like 3" total for the event. Weak...

Damn you westerners really cashed in on this one. How am I going to catch up to a 10-12" deficit? Well, at least I'm winning for the thickest ice accretion
-
Well I guess I don't need to head that way for work this week. I sell bicycle stuff and my guess is nobody's buying

25/24/N/SN Well I finally got in on the game. It snowed pretty hard for a few hours and I'm close to 4" now.

Tpalm, are you new around here? Welcome. After my last bitch about getting shafted it started snowing, then it snowed harder and for a pretty long time. I haven't been out but it looks like at least 3" and may be closer to 4.

I'm another 15-20 miles or so north of you and unless it's snowing fairly hard the main streets are staying mostly wet but the side streets are white. I had a short burst of SN+ a little while ago but with the wind I'm still under 1" for the event. Blah...

Since the beginning of the event I have 1/2" of accumulated frozen grey matter with a white frosting on it bringing it to 2/3" since the beginning of the storm. It's snowing nicely at the moment but it still tiny grains, flakes and cylinders so it's not adding up quickly.

Possible Dec 1-3 Winter Storm
gravitylover replied to Zelocita Weather's topic in New York City Metro
Alright I'm gonna get ripped for my misread but I'm jumping in. It looks like a redevelopment due to the southern low swinging around and merging with the upper level low as it comes off the coast. I think it's a bit optimistic because there isn't much holding it back from scooting out and taking it's energy with it. Ya gotta appreciate the enthusiasm though. Thanks Doorman. Now have at it and tell me how wrong I am -
Well at least the temp is starting to come down just a little bit. None of the local stations seem to have recorded winds or precip since early this morning, must all be frozen. It really doesn't look like there's much chance of getting anything that counts tonight, it all looks to be Berks and Catskills on the radar and I bet it will just pull out to the east rather than swinging through. I sure won't complain if I pull a few inches but I'm not expecting it. For all the hype and hassle I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up with about 1 inch. Blah... At least it will get cold tomorrow night and firm things up nicely making for a fun early morning ride on Wednesday.

It didn't do me any good today at 700 feet. Unless something special happens this goes down as 1/2" of frozen grey matter with a snowy frosting.

^^I want one so bad

30/29/ENE freezing mist and snow grains. I have a little over a half inch of frozen material since the beginning of the event that's slowly getting covered with snow. Everything is coated in .2-.3" of ice. You know that crackly sound you get under high power lines? That's what it sounds like outside.
