  1. Yeah, we'll see. If HPN gets .25 I won't be surprised but that ~30 miles is going to make all the difference. You mention the parallel with a winter storm, lol, in these cases it's fringe city here. I can usually smell the snow 15 miles south...
  2. I got that extra hundredth, the station on my street is .27 and there's a .31 two miles away.
  3. Still at .27 here, it hasn't rained since pretty early this morning. It sounds like most of what's incoming will stay south and east of me so I'm not expecting much more. What do you think WDrag, does it make it to the W'chester/Putnam border or is 287 the break line for any more significant precip?
  4. Heh, .26 here too. One local station is at .3 though. It's cold too. I think I'm aging out of appreciating raw, wet fall days
  5. I think that after the leaves go down and I can figure out what to cut he's gonna lose a bunch of shit but the stuff facing their driveway will stay intact. The brush fire idea is more appealing though. Looks like another storm is going to be less wet for us up here. Hopefully this pattern where the heavier precip is from the city south doesn't hold after mid December.
  6. The color was that brownish beige and it had the flat look rather than the crispness that was on the north side of the line but yes it was more clouds than smoke.
  7. I was right at the smoke line for a while yesterday, it was so cool seeing a straight line across the sky with vivid blue on one side and dingy beige on the other. It was 6* warmer on the sunny side.
  8. Heheh, those things are pretty cool right? I borrowed one and did the same, took everything down that I could reach. Unfortunately the vines growing across the driveway are up about 25-30 feet and the neighbor won't let me go at it from his side he says it's not his problem and I should just pay someone. I say fk that it's his crap that's growing over and he should at the very least let me cut it down because it's like a roof over my driveway and the sun never gets to the ground and the moss was 3" thick before I scraped it off on my hands and knees in July, in the winter it stays a sheet of ice for weeks at a time. Unfortunately he hasn't gone on vacation in over 10 years so I haven't been able to sneak on and take care of since then. I think there's going to be a little brush fire this winter sometime.
  9. Hey @DRVTS are ya in the house? I need your help. Solved
  10. Great mt biking there, the zone around the Catskill GF is pretty good too. You can ride along and hum "lions and tigers and bears oh my" as you go Nice morning, hopefully the frost stays away as my early August planted tomato plants started flowering and setting fruit the last two days. It would be nice to get one more round of tomatoes before it's all over. The herbs are going crazy, buttercrunch lettuce, carrots, potatoes and parsnips seems to be doing well too but for the most part everything else is done. The potatoes in particular look like they're going to be more successful than the first round was early in the season which is nice especially if I can get some sweet potatoes for Thanksgiving.
  11. Light rain for a few hours but it didn't add up to much, .05. Is this wetness going to keep moving through from S>N before the cold front pushes the whole body of rain into us? I've been right on the eastern edge and wouldn't mind getting more rain but have to fill a dumpster today and move a lot of outside stuff around so I also won't mind if it stays mostly dry.
  12. I noticed that here too, all of the good color is on the ground. It looks like we'll get another round with the upcoming cool nights so that's nice.
  13. 1.3" here. Meh, biggest total for 15 miles around was 1.5. It rained hard for a little while but nothing special. 20 miles east and west were an inch more
  14. 1.3 Good soaking but not as good as most of you. Big surprise... Nice out there now, very autumnal feeling.
  15. ~1" give or take a few hundredths from S>N. Looks like it's gonna be a wet overnight.
  16. Yup the color is popping big time but the leaves are falling like snow, a little more wind and some heavier rain and it will be more than half over pretty quickly. A couple of hours of light rain today softened the ground up nicely so when the heavier rains come it should mostly soak in.
  17. Yesterday my wife said the color is already better than at any point last year.
  18. Run that with 5/27 as the start date. The departure in SE NY should be much more significant.
  19. I can't believe all of the whining over a September that feels like September used to be rather than the last few that were just summer extensions.
  20. At this point I'm only using the sunny spots and letting the others go down for the season. I'll rework the layout for next year soon because a few of those plants are still flowering and drawing bees. I didn't hit freezing through this stretch so the things that were growing slowed but didn't stop and the root veggies and potatoes seemed to love it, so did the broccoli that had bolted and gone to seed because it started forming new heads which really took off in the sun yesterday afternoon. I thought those plants were long gone but left them because the bees like the flowers and now it looks like I might get a third round of food out of them. Garlic gets planted this week.
  21. Yeah I think my tender stuff made it, the peppers weren't looking too thrilled with the situation this morning but they perked up this afternoon. Hopefully the late planted tomatoes set some fruit with this incoming warmup and the basil fully recovers, all of the other herbs are happy and the root veggies are too.
  22. Yup it's 5781 now, we made a quantum leap. Phew, that's gotta be a relief. Now you just have to hope the theory that you can't catch it again is for real. Eek on the stone! Good luck with that.
  23. Brrr, 60 in the house. Yeah the no craft show thing has completely wrecked my wife's business. Between my business being in the dumps because road tripping sucks and the engine in my car blew up a month ago and her not having any shows to go to and sell her stuff things are extra tight here. 2020 sucks.
