No complaints from me. Pleasant temperatures and humidity and ample rainfall. Can't beat it with a stick. I do feel bad for folks in the deep south and southwest U.S. They have been taking it on the chin this summer. Brutal. Now way I could "exist" in those conditions.

Just a run of the mill T-Storm last evening. Nothing even close to severe. Picked up .51" of rainfall for a daily total of 1.20". I'll take it. Had some rumbles of thunder and some flashes of lighting. Winds BRIEFLY gusted to about 30 mph. Pretty much as expected for my area. Bow echo over SNJ was impressive.

The historical record from that site has been so contaminated in several ways. It is a shame.
-
Still not impressed for anything severe in NJ. Exception being southern 1/3 of the state....in line with the outlined area. The eastern sections of that watch box from SENY / NEPA down to near TTN do not look favorable for severe IMO. Even SNJ may escape with little or nothing with the loss of daytime heating.
-
Heavily overcast here and it has been all day. Even some drizzle at times.
-
.69" rainfall on the day so far. Expectations for severe over NNJ later today are low. Hoping for at least another slug of rainfall. Will be disappointed in anything less than .50". Looks like the usual SNJ on south and west type event....AGAIN. Don't need or want the severe just a little more rainfall and I'll call it a win.

Latest WPC QPF outlook is pretty robust next 72 hours over NW/W NJ and EPA with 2" to locally 3"+, especially over EPA. PWAT will be approaching 2" or slightly higher with rather slow moving CF pushing into that juicy air mass. As of this morning issuance SPC had SLT risk of severe over western sections of this forum. Could use a little rainfall to refresh the top soil. Not is dire need by any means.

Clear, crisp and cool morning. Hint of September in the air. Morning low here was 56 degrees. Really nice for the closing days of July. Just quick shower last evening. Gusty wind for a few minutes but only .06" rainfall. Looks like a dry week with pleasant temperatures and humidity coming up!

Interesting. I believe "corn sweat" was a big player raising DP's in the 1995 heat wave that killed 700+ in Chicago.
-
Partly sunny here at best and 86 currently. Still nasty humid though. Heat index readings running 100-108 along and southeast of the I95 corridor.
-
Not even sure we'll hit 90 today in my area (NW corner) of NJ. Lots of clouds and satellite says breaks of sun at best next few hours at least.
-
Not a bad look for the closing days of July.
-
WOW, 99/84. No wonder I remember it being bad. Now that is a heat index!
-
Wow, had no idea it reached those levels locally! Just remember it was some of the worst, if not the worst heat/humidity I have ever experienced.
-
Anyone remember or know what the heat indexes were around here during the great heat burst during the summer of 1995? This was the year 700+ people died in Chicago as HI rose to near 130 and in some cases even higher for several days. DP's reached the m/u 80's with ambient temps of near or over 100. To my memory that is the worst heat I have ever felt here in NJ. I remember it was over a weekend around here and the air was beyond stifling. Not a puff of air. I don't think I can ever remember it feeling so uncomfortable. Have no recollection of what the heat index readings were around here but my guess would be 108-112? I'm fairly certain temperatures were in the upper 90's to just over 100. Anyone else remember?

No big deal here. Few rumbles of thunder and no lightning or wind to speak of. Picked up about .20" over a 30-40 min. period. Dud for my location. No way is that line not hitting Staten Island, the 5 boroughs and into western Nassau.
-
ALL of eastern Hunterdon County getting creamed and about to move into Somerset and they are severe warned on that pseudo bow echo.
-
Radar looking nasty over NEPA and soon to be crossing the Delaware into NNJ. Going to rock and roll for some locations. You can tell the atmosphere is beyond ripe just by the way the radar as blossomed over last 60-90 min.
-
.52" rainfall here from a pretty run of the mill T-Shower. No wind of any consequence.
-
Nice improvement to Drought Monitor over the last month....EVEN FOR L.I.
-
Totally agree. I knew it was over for my area when storms started popping to my south and east.
-
I know that is why I have been kind of dragging my feet on the project. I'm not capable of going up that high and I can't find anyone to do it for me. I really want to locate the wind equipment in the best spot and that roof peak with a mast would be ideal. Add to that I'm not technical enough to get the system connected and up and running. Looking for help !
-
Nice setup! Did you install those up there yourself?
-
Have the specs on a nice Davis package that I'd like but I'm not "technically" up to the task. Also want to install the wind equipment on roof as I have great exposure. Installed at ground level the yard is too protected. So would need someone capable to installing wind equipment on the roof peak.

If this overall pattern persists over the next 6-8 weeks COULD make for some POTENTIALLY interesting tropical threats along the mid and north Atlantic coasts. Those negative and positive anomalies over the mid U.S. and Canadian Maritimes respectively are not unfavorable to open the door to threats.
