  1. Very cold. I remember it because we had just moved to Anne Arundel around Halloween, and the swamp pond down the road froze over and became covered with an inch of snow. Doesn't normally happen until Jan/Feb; if at all. BWI and IAD went below freezing every day of the month. Average anomaly -8, -9, or more. Not much snow though.
  2. Let us not forget that Jeb is also the reigning winner of the summer temperature contest. (I think he even surprises himself at times.)
  3. Did it this morning too; (dropped 2f from the hourly reading; 100% RH):
  4. On the current NOAA gadget, when Air Temp and DP are equal at frzg, the RH is 100%. I think this is correct. Here's an example at another airport (in NC) from this morning: Based on some surrounding stations, that BWI freeze is probably right. But we're so used to them being wrong, I agree it looks weird.
  5. Looking around a little,,,,looks like York made 30f and Frederick was 32. Small pocket of freezing; might be legit. Good catch @WxUSAF
  6. 36 Frost up the hill and in the open area. First frost in our neighborhood, I think.
  7. First fire. Just a small one, because I've made some repairs to the stove and has to cure slowly. Quadrafire 4100
  8. What? Is today your 70th birthday or something? (I considered wedding anniversary, but thought it infeasible) Hurricane Hazel landed on that day, (I think), and I recall my Dad telling that he watched the storm from the front porch of a boarding house in D.C. Edit: 98mph gust at DCA. Eh, sorry for the useless post
  9. We haven't had much color yet (normal for us), but I was using a leaf blower on Saturday, and realized we're about 2 weeks ahead on leaf drop. Probably due to dry conditions. The poplars have noticeably lost about half their foliage. I live in a forest, and can hear many neighborhood leaf blowers, so it's not just my imagination. Had 0.25" rain on October 1, and almost nothing since then.
  10. Sent by my daughter from east Texas. Not as colorful, but I never expected this at their low latitude.
  11. Airline may be making that decision for her. (Assuming it's to Tampa)
  12. Huh? I must've stumbled into the wrong sub-forum.
  13. Touch of drizzle driving in to work. Almost had a small patch of blue sky, but not quite.
  14. More drizzle. 62f Have lost track of my straight days of rain.
  15. 1.34" for the month. Lowest temp 46f, highest 84.
  16. Only 0.10" yesterday, and annoyingly rainy this morning but only a few more hundredths. Three rainy days and not much to show for it.
  17. Seems like a lot more on the MJO than I recall previous years.
  18. Only 0.05" Monday, mostly after 6pm. Still only about 0.7 for Sept so far.
  19. 0.25" yesterday and overnight. Still lightly raining.
  20. I listed it from por-2024 and noted a mean of 37.5. Also checked the Dec 2023 total and noted a normal of 38.6. So I estimate it has gone up about 1.1f 2004 and 2007 are at 37.5 and 37.8. 2008 and 2016 need the 38.6 crutch to be considered "colder than normal". But really, these are about average. But, y'know, since you asked...
  21. using BWI ... Decembers this century with below normal avg temp (12 out of 23) 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2016, 2017, 2022 Dec 2000 shows as 7th coldest on record, (since 1873). Coldest, by far, is 1989....if you remember that. Decembers this century with above normal total snowfall (7 out of 23) 2002, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2013, 2017 So yes, we had a string of colder Decembers, but lately pretty lame.
