  1. I’m getting more towards your line of thinking although for different reasons, minus the whole culture war aspect. We half assed this process so badly. Im not sure continuing these half baked semi lockdowns that don’t really keep the virus under control serve any long term purpose. I guess most states agree since they’re starting to open. We obviously are far too ignorant and stupid to pull off the test, trace, isolate, thing that Asian countries, Germany, etc are doing. So what are our options?
  2. I have no idea. It would be very inconvenient if my kids schools weren’t open, but the one I teach at is. I teach in a different school system than my kids go to. I hope DC, MD, VA, make a regional decision to avoid this issue.
  3. Yeah I can see that side of it too, but a moot point for my family since we’re both working during the day when homeschooling would happen.
  4. I’m not homeschooling. Not only do I not have a ability to do that because of work, but I think any amount of social interaction is good for them.
  5. It might not, but I think it should. It’s really a shame we ended up in this mess. We mismanaged every aspect of this so badly. We gave it out “best” shot which was a two month half assed lockdown that really hasn’t brought the virus under control.
  6. I think going back in person in the fall has to happen. Vulnerable populations will need extra protection in the workplace or work from home options.
  7. What a mess. What will parents who work (not from home) do with their kids if they’re not in school?
  8. I’ve been up to roaring plains and dolly sods for hiking trips in the summer. I’d like to rent a cabin up there within striking distance of hiking options.
  9. I absolutely will, love the beer and atmosphere there. I started going up to Davis to ski at white grass in the winter of 09-10 and had been going almost every year since but the weather hasn’t cooperated recently. I can’t even remember the last time I was up there in good conditions, maybe 2016 or 2017. Last time I was up there in winter I did a couple runs at timberline cause the snow wasn’t good enough for cross country.
  10. Oh wow, awesome. Been there a bunch of times. During the super snowy weekends it seems like you guys are packed!
  11. Are you the owner of stump town ales?
  12. Not bad, not as many kids login as I’d like. DCPS changed the grading scale so there are no 0’s and half the work is extra credit, so the kids literally just have to do 1 assignment to get an A. Can’t really blame them for not doing more.
  13. Straight beer for me tonight, had a tall boy 8% double IPA on an empty stomach, quite the belly burner if you know what I mean.
  14. Trolls=people who dont agree with you lol? Well there was @PhineasC, he makes some valid points but always throws in a hefty dash of the culture war stuff. “All the elite people enjoying the quarantine ordering door dash...” But then there was one guy who just posted worthless comparisons to the flu nonstop and another guy who posted some incoherent nonsense. At the end of the day the thread was fine. I say open it up!!!
  15. Can we open it up again? Why was it even shutdown?
  16. Wow! Crazy cause it's just been breezy here. Are we expecting the peak of the synoptic winds early this afternoon?
  17. Large tree down on a house in my neighborhood in Takoma Park, house isn’t too badly damaged but it’s not even that windy yet...
  18. Pretty nice event on the GFS, by the time we lose 850s the precip is mostly gone. Looks like thump to dry slot.
  19. Yeah you can definitely see it already, everything shunted south a bit.
  20. Yeah but next weekend hasn’t really ever looked very promising for us. It seems like our real window starts after that.
  21. This for me is my 3rd favorite storm since moving to this area in 2009. 1. Feb 5-6, 2010 2. Jan 20-21, 2016 3. This The reason I put this ahead of Feb 9-10 is because this one was a big reverse bust and broke a big streak of no good storms. Even halfway through the storm we weren’t sure if it was over. Last night around 7:45 walking the dog was one of my favorite jebwalks ever. **disclaimer, I was out of town for Dec 2009
