    thanks! it should be nice starting Sunday. i will post pics and thanks for the Wicked Tuna recommendation. we’re going to stop in Rocky Mount for the night. now that we’re older it’s nice to break up a long drive and to try local restaurants. we’ve never been to MB so it’s going to be fun (especially seeing family). good luck on the neighborhood shopping—we’ve been doing that in the Keys. it’s fun!

    .77" of rain so far, and more on the way. it's nice but i doubt by itself it moves us out of severe drought. the high so far has been 57--it's too early for these temps.

    an outflow boundary is coming through—the house is making a lot of noise.

    that golf ball-sized hail storm came through with only rain and a little wind here on its eastern fringe (good). we picked up .22” of rain but desperately need more. and some mammatus at the end:

    we've been under heat advisories for Tues and today, with forecast highs M/T/W of 99. Monday's high was 96, Tuesday--95, and today so far we've reached 93. low humidity all week too, so it's been hot but not unbearable. we lucked out.

    my husband called from Martinsburg to tell me he had pea-sized hail from whatever storm he was under. just heavy rain now.

    an overnight low of 54 as those few perfect August days begin. and the smoke is back:

    a high of 97, snd currently 93/75/104 with clouds and thunder.

    it'd be nice to have storm sirens though. I lived in Minneapolis for a few years in the pre-internet years and they were very useful if you weren't near a radio or a TV.

    i could hear the emergency vehicle sirens --turns out yet another house got struck by lighting and was on fire.

    now 78/75 with .15” of rain. 2 warned storms came through in the last hour and i’m hearing sirens.
