    Yep remember on Long Island it changed to rain and some snow got washed away, but that winter you would have taken it.Turned really cold after the storm,I think it was the only arctic outbreak that winter.

    So your telling us what we already know. It's been a warm.snowless strong nino winter.What is a spike in February going to mean? We are hoping for a 2 week window later in the month for something. After that it's over.Does it mean that the warm spike in enso means it's not going to snow later in the month?

    Don it's a strong Nino. No surprise, they are always warm and your only shot is a big storm. Most of those winters are mild and snowless like this one.

    So if on 2/7 there is nothing, doesn't mean that on 2/22 it can't snow? right?..It can even snow in a crappy pattern in February.

    LOL I though the same thing. and when I lived in Central PA in the 80's it was different. We had a thing called clippers(remember them}.. we would get more snow then Long Island..Since I moved back in 2020 there really is no difference. You get nicer Springs and Summers are hot..but winters have been lacking.

    Fo the last 40 years or so western troughs have been the main feature..Yes we do get those winters with a trough in the east, but they are not common. I wonder why?..Climate, the Pacific?

    Our first snow threat in a long time. I think everybody has a shot here. It might not work out but when there's a chance we track.

    8 and 1 was weak?..what? 1 was very strong. 3 will be very strong.. Isn't phase 3 cold for January?

    What good did MJO phase 8 and 1 get us? MJO is way overated..It's just one tool.

    600 hr GEFS?..Where did you pull this out from? 2 weeks is not even accurate.I know your trying to prove a point it's going to be warm. Fine, get it.It's a warm winter.Doesn't mean it can't snow in January.

    I don't care what the models say it will snow in January.I'll take climo anytime..not saying it will be a big storm, but snow will accumulate sometime in the month.

    Nope its going to snow sometime in January and February..Very unlikely we will just have a trace the next two months.

    And phase one is a cold phase for us..lol..so what does it really mean? Really can we say it's just a part of the equation..or maybe because of the strong nino it really doesn't matter?

    Well if MJO going into favorable phases doesn't work, what will? It's a total disaster if you like winter weather. I can;t imagine not getting a snowfall these next 2 and a half months.But I'm starting to think it's possible which is scary.
