The radar in ENY headed this way certainly looks ‘interesting’...

I posted a report earlier - a guess, not a measurement... Washington Depot (in Litchfield County) about 3.5 inches, just over 0.1" ice accretion elevation here is about 760 feet

Sun coming out is a nice touch to cap things off... Maybe it will reduce the (already not very big) ice accumulation. Just guessing since I did not measure , but 3.5 inches of snow, and probably a little more than .10 inches ice on the tree branches here in Washington Depot (Litchfield County, CT).

Reported Eversource outages in CT are creeping upward - not yet a crisis, but it's interesting to compare the 1 PM map with the 9 AM map (see the top post on page 30 in this thread). The area that was getting hit at 9 AM shows increases both in the number of towns reporting outages and in the numbers of outages in those towns, and the line of outages has extended toward the northeast.

The Eversource CT outage map is very revealing: (So is the lightningmaps.org map) BTW, I'm in Washington Depot, CT (Litchfield County) and at least so far have missed the worst effects of this storm - just eyeballing at about 3 or 4 inches, including a heavy crust of compacted sleet - it was pinging all night here. Not looking forward to the deep freeze, though...

Not sure whether this is a good thread for bringing this up or whether the banter thread might be better, or even if it might deserve a thread of its own... There is a total lunar eclipse that will be visible across all of North America this coming Sunday night Jan 20 into early Monday morning Jan 21, reaching totality starting just after midnight EST. But the first 'bite' out of the full Moon taken by the Earth's shadow will start several hours before that. Not only will this be a total eclipse of the Moon, but the Moon will be a 'super Moon' because it is closer than 'normal' to the Earth, It's also the only total lunar eclipse this year. So there will be a lot of interest in it. Not sure of the forecast for that time IMBY, maybe the useful models won't be in hand for another day or two - it looks like earlier in the day on Sunday the 20th we can expect clouds and precip, while on Monday the 21st things may clear up - but it's the 'when' of the clearing up that will interest many folks. Some of the lightning flash rates that I've been seeing (with the storm just W of the CT border and the one in the Hartford area) were pretty intense (almost 200 per minute in total), although they've backed down by a few notches recently. But someone has been getting a pretty good light show...
