  1. Yeah, what he said... (wait, wut?)
  2. Eversource outage map for CT: https://outagemap.eversource.com/external/default.html Have had brief power glitches so far... Will be surprised if I don't lose power and internet before this is over...
  3. Time to dust off my arduino-based lightning detector circuit (that I couldn’t get working last year)...
  4. And here I thought it was just IMBY when I heard the loud thunder - only to find that it's lighting up all over New England...
  5. Thunder heard. Looking forward to summertime t-storms. 46 degrees with a cold rain falling here... Radar shows the heavier stuff to my south (and lightningmaps.org confirms that's where the lightning is).
  6. Snow just started falling here in Washington Depot, CT (Litchfield County, NW CT). 21 degrees, elevation is about 750 feet, no wind to speak of. Small flakes coming down. Lots and lots of small flakes. It is quickly sticking to and accumulating on both ground and pavement.
  7. Yatta! (he exclaimed in Japanese). Thunder snow has arrived here... (with pinging on the windows, as if on cue)
  8. More lightning activity approaching the NY-CT border (west of Ridgefield/Danbury). Maybe this one will pass to the south of me.
  9. On the one hand, I'm sorry that I missed out on the lightning strikes and thunder (a few of which were barely more than a dozen miles north of here, at least according to lightningmaps.org), but if I'm also missing out on some freezing rain action, I'll willingly accept it...
  10. Too cold to go outside and measure but could be 3” now - steady snow, 31 deg.
  11. Not sure when it started, but heavy pinging sounds are coming from the windows right now so it must be sleeting here. 27 deg F in Washington Depot.
  12. It’s snowflakes in Washington Depot, not sleet. 24 deg F here.
  13. Snow in Kent? Bizarre - that's only maybe 15 miles from here, if that. It's certainly not snowing in the town of Washington Depot, CT right now (quickly looks out of the window). Oh, wait, cancel that - it is snowing now... Big, fat flakes...
  14. "Just say 'no' to TORs"... Earlier storm did a number on unpaved driveway, gouging deep scars into the gravel and soil. But no wind damage AFAIK. I'm just a bit below the warning box for this one that is on its way... North of me in Litchfield County looks to be the sweet spot.
  15. Nice cool-down after the line passed, though - very pleasant outside now...
  16. The sky looked ominous just before it went through here - the wind picked up a bit - it was promising, but when all was said and done fairly meh... Not a lot of lightning, not a lot of downpour, no hail, not a whole lot of wind either...
