  1. Returning thunderstorm certainly surprised me… I think that I saw stars in the sky through a big hole in the clouds, with lightning around it.
  2. Even though the lightning map and the radar looked crazy (in Washington Depot near the Morris line) it never really ‘delivered’ here.
  3. And we’re warned - radar showing an offshoot from the ENY storm fingering Litchfield County with fairly frequent lightning strikes shown on the map - still southwest of me at the moment in New Milford and no thunder heard yet.
  4. Too close to sunrise to get really good lightning views here - the storm is pretty impressive on radar and not that far away, but have not yet even heard any thunder.
  5. Hearing distant thunder in mid-Litchfield County - probably from the Watertown area - we missed most of the action here today.
  6. Sun came out in Litchfield County, followed by thunderstorms springing up.
  7. Yes, it looks pretty eerie here... You must be hearing muffled distant thunder as well... (but maybe it's not that distant from you)
  8. The lightning map looks 'spicy' - and even though I am apparently miles and miles away from the nearest strokes shown on the map, I am hearing distant low rumbles...
  9. Looks like Long Island Sound is getting soaked - but soon enough it should be hitting CT.
  10. The radar looks interesting but at least in this area of Litchfield County the lightning seems pretty anemic - maybe the Danbury area is getting a better light show. I suppose it could change as the evening goes on…
  11. Tell us how you really feel (I'm right there with you.)
  12. In Bantam and Litchfield right now, headed towards Harwinton and Torrington...
  13. Have not lost power other than a couple of blinks, lightning intensity is picking up as it heads towards my northeast, rain and wind have settled down now.
  14. Yikes - heavy wind gusts, maybe pings from small hail, heavy heavy rain here Washington Depot next to Morris
  15. Nice burst of wind as the line just hit here. Lightning is kind of meh.
  16. Popup thunderstorm is thundering here. Nice. Thunderous, too.
  17. I considered putting a tarp over all of tomato and veggie seedlings overnight, but considering that I just paid $200 for them (because I didn’t get my seed starting done back in February) I decided not to take the chance. Average last frost date here is May 10 but we’re a week past that - grass came out and grew much faster than normal, usually can get by without mowing the lawn for the first time until nearly June, so I got lulled into complacency by that - but I guess nobody told Mother Nature…
  18. Gonna hafta bring the ‘mater seedlings indoors to prevent them from freezing overnite…
  19. I can hardly wait... Maybe I can finally set up an outdoor weather station before then (but maybe not - lots of other items on my massive to-do list are competing for my attention).
  20. Steep gradient in this general area - you're not all that far from me (in Washington Depot) but even at 750' elevation only have a few inches (eyeballing it as less than 4) - go a little bit north from here and the totals increase dramatically (and so do the power outages).
  21. The Eversource outage map numbers are still relatively modest, but the pattern and clustering is interesting even as it is about as expected (following the heavy snow so far, on a diagonal from CT NW hills thru W MA into S NH). https://outagemap.eversource.com/external/default.html
