    Second round of thunderstorms making their way into Litchfield County, CT...

    And I'm hearing thunder, a bit east of New Milford, CT. Looks like a small blip on the radar, but I'm a happy camper. Nice little wind burst ahead of the rain getting here. The rain has arrived, nice little summer downpour - the lightning strikes have all seemed to be pretty anemic, though.

    Little bit of thundering going on in mid-Litchfield County (yeah, I'm in the 'severe warning' zone - in Washington Depot - not yet much rain, it's mostly to my west at the moment)

    Enjoying the modest T-storm in mid-Litchfield County. Nothing spectacular, but "ready to rumble".

    Not much on the Eversource outage map (yet) - I'm only a couple miles from Bantam and not a drop here, no wind, no hail, just some thunder.

    Looks like it's likely to slide by just to my north. Hail headed toward Litchfield. At least I can live vicariously by hearing the thunder.

    A couple minutes of small pinging hail in Washington Depot CT just now... Smaller than a dime...

    Yeah, well, um... lightningmaps.org shows a couple of lonely dots in or around the town of Kent. The My Lightning Tracker app shows a cluster to the east of that. Those two sources never seem to agree on the details, but they do seem to get the general gist right.

    My lightning app says that I missed a bunch of activity in my neighborhood or just a bit north about a half hour ago. Heard a rumble or two, but thought it was a truck. (!) The ground is wet - didn't notice any rain.

    Yeah - it's covering the ground in mid/southern-Litchfield County - and the heaviest stuff hasn't even started yet here.

    Guess that I ought to check the radar - will this morning's brief partial eclipse of the Sun be visible through the clouds (he wondered)...

    Somewhat off-topic, but... Notice how April Fools' Day gets all of the press, while May Fools' Day, June Fools' Day, and all of the rest pale into insignificance? Napril coincidence? Some months have all the luck...

    It's as if this marginal thunderstorm is playing hopscotch - downpour and lightning was over there, to my west beyond the NY state line, and then suddenly it's blowing up over Canton, Simsbury and Avon to my east, with nothing in between.

    Nobody expects... an 8 AM October thunderstorm. (Not here, more to the south and east of here - that means you, New Haven...)

    With lightning, too - I was surprised to get an alert from my lightning app...

    It's not often that I wake up to loud thunder, but I just did - that line coming from eastern NY into CT looks like the real deal.

    I was happy to have power flicker only twice (in Washington Depot) - somehow seem to have missed the brunt of it.
