  1. Difficult as all three were awesome events. I will say Dec. 00 Bliz. I was living in very NW corner of Sterling Heights (which did very good) but I would like to get the full experience of what this area, I am living now, received knowing it was greater!!! That is still one of my favorite winter events as I have many fun stories
  2. If I recall JB (?) would say: "Enjoy the weather, it's the only weather you got." I would add one thing: "If you want something else, get in your car and drive!" I have enjoyed this winter so far. Sure we've only been nickeled and dime. Sure I am hoping for something much greater. Plenty of time to go
  3. Stevo you are completely ridiculous. You obviously have the money to travel. You want a big storm GO TO IT!!!! Fly to NE when they are going to get a monster Nor'easter 2-3'+ snowstorm. Go to UP or Buffalo or Tug Hill areas when they are expected 5'+ LES events. Go to Tahoe or ski resort out west when they are getting the Pacific Jet Express. Wasting your time, just hope Detroit are is going to experience an 18"+ blockbuster is like waiting for the Detroit Lions go to the Superbowl!!! I travel to thunderstorms and not always waiting for them to magically hit MBY.
  4. That past several days have kept me busy with the driveway daily (I like to do it for exercise)
  5. This is how I feel in some April/Mays when IL is on your 3rd+ round of great T-storms and all we have had is some remnant light rains IMBY Good thing is there are good signs (as Roardog has noted) of things becoming more stormy with this cold air around but getting there and actual results are always the trick!!
  6. After last year's mild winter, I have been enjoying the cold. There has been several days with snowflakes falling, snow on the ground, frozen lakes and plenty of winter activities. I have done relatively well with snow only being a bit below average but the LES keeps falling. I know many here are bone dry and I feel lucky with what I have received. Looking forward to whatever comes next!!
  7. I believe we will but we'll see. We have about 6" on the ground here. We have been getting ~1" or so every day after Friday's event. Been loving it here talking a daily Jeb walk with the dog on the ice!!
  8. What an enjoyable winter weekend. It was just a blast as we spent several hours on the lake. There were a lot of people with snowmobiles, ice fishing and pick up hockey games. Yep the ice was safe enough for the snowmobilers. A wonderful weekend of hanging with the neighbors.
  9. A foot ... stepping in 2-3" inches of snow!!
  10. LES of about 1" so far here today. Looks like a bit more is moving in again. Now this is very fluffy snow with high ratios.
  11. I have done relatively well considering how bad it has been for many. While no big storms, I have been able to be nickel and dime frequently. Hopefully we can move into a bigger snow/stormier pattern in the new few weeks.
  12. Yes this area just very NE Livingston and NW Oakland is wonderful for LES snow. I estimate 15"-20" of snow around here is due to the great lakes. roardog I am watching this expected Monday NNE flow. Hoping it works out good for you. I have occasionally gotten some (inch or two) from Huron but it has to be just right to do it
  13. Definitely. I have nearly 4" on the ground. We got about 3" on 31st & 1st.
  14. Nice 1.5" snowfall this morning. Totally enjoyable winter day
  15. The 12" snowstorm with solid thundersnow in March '23 is just sugar-coated fake news to Stevo ...
  16. Chicago is a great place to get some occasional snows but mostly mild temperatures. It is not a continuous snow and cold city. It can get some great storms but they are not yearly. Also keep in mind snow is fickle as colder winters do not always equate to great snows. I can give to extremes where I live which the snowfall was opposite the temps. 95-96 was below average temps but snow was well below average ( ~15" below my area's average snowfall). 04-05 was well above average temps yet snow was WAY above average (it was 50" above average IMBY). Generally speaking the colder winter do produce the better snows but snow is definitely fickle at times.
  17. Awesome. Was hoping for a bit more snow then the ice/sleet we got here as some of the models showed. It will be a White Christmas here (yours a bit whiter ) .
  18. 1/4" of ice. Then 1/3" of sleet/ice mixture. Then 3/4" of snow on top. Very sloppy day. How much did you get of snow?
  19. Nice Ice event occurring here. Temp 30F with light rain.
  20. Overperformed here. 3-4". Had to shovel. Beautiful winter scene right now. While no major storms, I have enjoyed the several weeks.
  21. DTW was 28" ... much below average (45") Flint was 39" ... below average (52") Saginaw was 69" ... much above average (49")
  22. Thankfully I was in the northern burbs of Detroit that year and got plenty of snow. I was a bit young to remember the spring details but a quick look at the numbers it shows March, April and May '77 were overall mild.
  23. Can you imagine of being in Saginaw during the 76-77 winter with a grand season total of 18.5" of snow?? Don't think anyone there looks back at that year with any grand memories of being buried
  24. Got it. I am in the wrong place to talk about the Stratosphere, MJO, teleconnections, analogs and so on.
  25. I know you but I wonder how many people recall Detroit had 13 days above freezing in December 2013 . Even the Dec. 1976 Detroit Dec. had 10 day above freezing.
