  1. You guys are right!! I am not sure why we even do a Medium-Long range discussion tread. Such a waste of time!!! We should just have an current IMBY thread and maybe a very short range one!!
  2. Solid SN+ here right now with silver dollar flakes falling. Solid rain event with 1.5" of rain recorded at Howell airport.
  3. Been definitely watching this; there could be some real fun times in the not to distant future. I would post/discuss things like this more but it was made perfectly clear to me that several on this site think stratosphere, MJO and other teleconnections are worthless.
  4. My comment was in regards to the pattern we were in (i.e. if that would have continued). Since it isn't continuing and we are getting more stormy it will be difficult to get high ice % with this new pattern with the up and down temps and lots of wind. Going to be interesting to see if we can go above average for ice in the end. I personally think we will make a run at the end of February/ early March. Would be pretty remarkable considering the lake temp warmth going into November. We'll see.
  5. It was a wonderful SUN filled weekend. It was awesome to walk around on the lake with the dog in full sunshine 2 days in a row. Ready for the pattern change!!
  6. Always fun to have the models active with storms. Sign of something big on the horizon in the region
  7. Only a 1/4" here but still nice to have some snow falling on and off
  8. Additionally, the GLs influence will greatly diminish if we continued much longer with this NW strong cold flow. Ice cover is growing. Time to go to the casino pattern and take our chances
  9. I have learned to just smile and wave with all the negative talk about cold. When the directly ask me and I tell them I actually enjoy cold days, they look at me like deer in headlights. They know I am a weather geek but it still amazes them every single time.
  10. The less than 1" forecasted system has concluded with a final tally is a bit over 5". Would have been more if I used the NWS measurement process, sorry I just use the how much from start to finish. It was the high ratios that really made this system a lot more fun! Unfortunately it looks like the daily nickel and dime bombardment for this area is coming to a close. Now it is time to start look forward to bigger systems and possible clippers. Really hoping many of us can start getting having some winter snow fun as we head into February. As Red Green would say:
  11. I am excited to see the coming pattern change coming into February. Scoring a big one well we shall see how it all plays out
  12. There is much more volatility around here in the models. This is why you don't see many storm threads don't even get started until we are within a 3-5 day. Heck even at 5 day out there is a risk it will just end with an ALEK "And it's gone" post
  13. It definitely has been very wintery around here. While there has not been any major storms we have been able to consistently see snow. Thank you Great Lakes!!!!
  14. I have about 8" on the ground with that same 3" glacier/crusty bottom.
  15. Also keep in mind that any storms >120hour on the models is really just model porn in the Great Lakes and Midwest regions. Mostly entertainment purposes. Helpful to understand trends, patterns and seeing coming changes but not much for storms.
  16. Overperformer IMBY with this wave/system. Shoveled 2.5" as of 5:30AM off the driveway. Based on radar this will end up over 3". Currently have a decent snowpack. Forgot to post that yesterday MBY low was -10F. Ice on our lake is 10-12" thick.
  17. Pretty happy with the LES results over the past few days. 4" total but majority (3") was from yesterday evening to midday today. Snow pack is currently 6". Funny to think parts of Louisiana have more
  18. LES band was on and off yesterday, but since yesterday evening it has been going petty nice here making it very wintery with the cold temps.
  19. Difficult as all three were awesome events. I will say Dec. 00 Bliz. I was living in very NW corner of Sterling Heights (which did very good) but I would like to get the full experience of what this area, I am living now, received knowing it was greater!!! That is still one of my favorite winter events as I have many fun stories
  20. If I recall JB (?) would say: "Enjoy the weather, it's the only weather you got." I would add one thing: "If you want something else, get in your car and drive!" I have enjoyed this winter so far. Sure we've only been nickeled and dime. Sure I am hoping for something much greater. Plenty of time to go
  21. Stevo you are completely ridiculous. You obviously have the money to travel. You want a big storm GO TO IT!!!! Fly to NE when they are going to get a monster Nor'easter 2-3'+ snowstorm. Go to UP or Buffalo or Tug Hill areas when they are expected 5'+ LES events. Go to Tahoe or ski resort out west when they are getting the Pacific Jet Express. Wasting your time, just hope Detroit are is going to experience an 18"+ blockbuster is like waiting for the Detroit Lions go to the Superbowl!!! I travel to thunderstorms and not always waiting for them to magically hit MBY.
  22. That past several days have kept me busy with the driveway daily (I like to do it for exercise)
  23. This is how I feel in some April/Mays when IL is on your 3rd+ round of great T-storms and all we have had is some remnant light rains IMBY Good thing is there are good signs (as Roardog has noted) of things becoming more stormy with this cold air around but getting there and actual results are always the trick!!
