  1. I don’t know how many of you are familiar with the trails that go from Belmont Park in North Babylon down to Argyle and the GSB in Babylon but they are (unsurprisingly) bone dry. Ive been doing the bike now on the trails because I’m saving my pulled groin for men’s league footie games and the dirt is almost coarse sand at this point. Those trails are (imo) usually damp and slightly muddy even on days with no precip and this past week I had to be real careful not to wipeout on the sandy twist-and-turns.
  2. lol. Looking at the 2-week GFS, there’s like a forcefield around our area in regards to precipitation. Anything that gets close just…falls apart.
  3. Still haven’t put the heat on yet. I worked overnight and the car said 44 degrees at 6:15 this morning. House was down to 65. Looks like mid-50s tonight and a brief warmup should keep the heat off until next week where with daytime highs in the upper 50s should precipitate the heat finally coming on.
  4. Wife sent me this pic from our backyard in W. Babylon. I’m stuck at work in Queens, went out to the roof about 8pm and saw nothing.
  5. Just got back from Gilgo. My faith in the radar paid off, it got beautiful out, the last hour or two and now back home, it’s perfect out. I’m working tomorrow, so this is awesome.
  6. LIRR is shut down east of Kings Park and preliminary plan is to shut down east of Huntington after 4pm due to a compromised viaduct in Smithtown and the Nissequogue river has flooded. There’s another lake/large pond near the tracks that has been completely washed away into the Sound so anyone who commutes in that general vicinity should make alternative plans.
  7. I just made the mistake of taking a “short” walk before I got on my train because I got to the station early. It is disgusting out, and I’m a sweaty mess. Can’t wait for this cooler weather tonight/tomorrow, at least for a couple of days.
  8. Been getting a light show for about 15 minutes now, looks like we’re about to get socked here in W Bab.
  9. On the train, just went through some pretty moderate rain through Queens Village area. Appears to be some stuff on the radar popping up South Shore Farmingdale to Babylon area too.
  10. Tree down between Syosset and Cold Spring Harbor.
  11. lol, big rumble of thunder. No real rain (yet).
  12. Has anyone factored in the sun angle yet?
  13. Left them in my car before I got on the train. Lol, so pissed.
  14. My bar supposedly blew over at some point overnight and according to my wife there is broken glass all over the place on my porch. I just got back from LA last night so if I would have known I would have put the bar away. I hate friggin wind.
  15. Stupid question to the experts here…looking like a decent amount of rain Wed night into Thursday and “breezy.” I have to fly out to LAX midday Thursday. How “breezy” are we looking at because I’m hoping to get out of JFK as close as on time as possible.
  16. I’d say 3-4 inches of cement by me. 2 nice, somewhat, little events both easy to clean up and shovel. I like that. Kids happy. I’ll take it.
  17. Unpopular opinion…I don’t mind at all. Love getting the occasional 2-footer, and love the sight of the snow in the air, but once the storm has cleared, it can all melt as far as I’m concerned. If it’s not a monster storm, anything less than a foot gets sloppy and inconveniencing.
  18. Tell me about it, I’ve been working there, for the most part, since ‘97 and if you can believe it, it’s even worse. lol, my home away from home unfortunately.
  19. Sun already threatening to come out in Jamaica. Snow stopped as we entered Queens.
  20. Just left for work, so shoveled a 2nd time…gonna guess close to 6” on my lawn (W Babylon). Figuring another inch from what’s left to come. Kids are with their pop now, who’s a large child himself, so everyone’s happy. I always look forward to Spring, it’s my favorite time of year, but it was pretty nice seeing the large flakes and the nice landscapes for a few hours this morning.
  21. Snow has picked up significantly in the last 5 or 10 minutes, particularly the size of the flakes. Big, silver dollar pillows falling and still not much wind yet. If it keeps up like this until mid-afternoon, we will easily hit predictions. First plow of the day just went by.
  22. Juicy radar incoming off the Atlantic heading toward most of Long Island. We haven’t seen snow like this since January of ‘22.
  23. So….when does the blizzard start? Or, the total bust? Oh, can you guys and girls above, like, White Plains/New Rochelle let us coastal people get a little something? Ya greedy bastards
