  1. Damn, you just brought me back. I was 15 and my mom has always liked looking at the houses on Dune Rd and we drove out there a few days after that storm and we actually got turned around by the authorities because it was impassable.
  2. The one Nor’easter I’ll never forget was in March of 2010. We were fairly new home owners at the time so I had to officially worry about my property for one of the first times and just remember the howling of the winds and trees down in the area. Iirc, we lost power from Saturday afternoon until some time the next day. I want to say we had some 70mph gusts that evening.
  3. According to NWS, Moses had a wind gust of 60 early Monday morning and Eaton’s Neck had a 57mph gust around the same time but most of the strongest gusts were in the 40-50mph range, even the beaches. JFK’s was 44mph https://partnerservices.nws.noaa.gov/products/cache/286-2025/PNSOKX/74b10c34b8e31e4cc95546e8eacf7578 still gusting in the 25-30mph range by me, but they are getting fewer and further between as the morning progresses.
  4. I may be just sitting in the room where that email and txt alert came from I’ve seen the camera at Bayside, it’s not pretty. Totally over the 3rd rail.
  5. Transit alert for you: Port Wash branch suspended and Clearview and CI both shut down and LIE at Springfield Blvd. I don’t have the pix, but the water is completely above the 3rd rail at Bayside station.
  6. Damn, those storms appear to have hit a brick wall in mid-Nassau.
  7. This is the perfect weather imo. And, of course, I’m at work the whole day.
  8. It is absolutely horrendous right now. Feels like Florida.
  9. Middle to Northern Jersey are becoming, frankly, dangerous areas to live. I know a few of you “joked” in the past about it becoming the new tornado alley but it has definitely become a haven for severe thunderstorms and rain inundations.
  10. Got a rogue cell over my neighborhood now. Starting to lighten up, but it was pouring for a minute there. Edit: pouring again.
  11. Another heavy looking round of thunderstorms going through middle Jersey that could affect Brooklyn/Long Island if they stay intact.
  12. That was interesting weather to play soccer in. Muggy as hell, wet as hell, sweaty as hell. Fun to play, uncomfortable as hell.
  13. Isaias. Yeah was pretty gusty. Had to drive from south shore to north shore about 4pm and saw plenty of damage. Power at Huntington LIRR was out.
  14. I’m hoping it never happens, one of the biggest things I worry about on this island. Cat 3 or worse would be catastrophic for us.
  15. Wait, you live in Oceanside and you WANT a cat 3 to hit like 10-15 miles west of where you live??
  16. Looks like Western Suffolk to Middle Island about to get some serious rain in the next hour. West and east of that…not so much. Amazing how much the sky has changed in my train ride west.
