A very light steady snow has broken out here. Mood flakes, always nice.

I've been having similar thoughts all week, that the timing and temps could make that half inch problematic this evening. I'm just not sure there's enough juice with this system, seems pretty dry. We'll have to get some semblance of rates at some point to make it happen but if we do, yeah, I think things could turn dicey quickly with no pre-treatment on the roads.

Low of 14. A rough average of all the models this morning has us getting about .6" of snow down this way this evening. It's a shame that arctic front isn't moving through a few hours earlier tonight because, as it stands, we're looking at one heck of a midnight high for tomorrow. Happy Friday, all.

Low of 9 here as it looks like a pretty substantial inversion setup last night, with a wide variety of lows around the area. @Itstrainingtime at one point earlier this morning I was scanning WU and the Maytown airport station near you was at 15 while some station like a mile or two to its west was at 3.

Huge bust in the low forecast here as my temp never went below 27. Clouds were supposed to clear out during the predawn hours and just never did.

Yep. It's hard to find a spot that works perfectly year around but it sounds like you've done as well as possible. From my experience, virtually all home stations run a bit high when compared to the official NWS stations and are particularly prone to spiking when in direct sun, no matter what claims they make. It's why I don't fully trust most home stations. It's also why I don't report my own daily highs (except for very cloudy days), because unfortunately the only spot I have for it leads to full sun exposure most of the midday and typically leads to readings a good 3-5 degrees too high during the hours of like 10:30-2:30. LNS and MDT both on the verge of officially going above 32 for the first time in eons. Exciting times ha.

Low of 21 since midnight but pretty sure it was colder than that earlier in the evening. Clouds rolled in and did their thing.

Low of 13. Mid week threat looking marginal at best, even down this way. Phil sees his shadow, six more weeks of winter!

I heard some stat about State College having 8 straight days with temps remaining below 20 degrees (think it was just broken this afternoon), which is the longest such stretch since 1893, or something to that effect. Wild.

Low of 8. Glad to hear the threats for next week are looking promising. Always nice to get a couple refreshers to aid the pack and whiten things up.

It really depends what your local conditions were like for how low you went last night. A good bit of variety across the local ASOS stations: RDG 5, CXY 4, LNS 1, MDT 0, and THV -8. I believe MDT’s zero reading will be a new record low for today, breaking the previous record of 2 from 1948.

Low of 5 here. Winds and clouds have been just fickle enough throughout recent nights to prevent total bottoming out, and have also lead to some unusual times for the lows.

Not seeing much model support for mid-next week but still a ways to go. Might have to wait until the clipper swings through later in the week toward the weekend.

Low of 5. It looks like the core of the cold and/or best radiational cooling stayed out west last night. I think we bottom out tonight out this way. Loving the staying power of this pack, has barely budged an inch. Talk of snow mid next week exciting as well. Onward.

National high of only 78 at a few places in southern California and low of -28 in extreme northeastern Minnesota near the Canadian border. Crystal ball says the next three days come in at an average temp of exactly 10 at MDT (crazy), bringing the monthly mean for January down to 26.5, which would be sandwiched between 2011 and 2015 for the 33rd coldest all-time. Book it.

Low of five here, as I sit up a wee bit too high on the ridge, but it looks like most spots around me hit near-zero or below. It's interesting that most of the sites seemed to hit their low pretty early in the night ~1-3am. I assume some clouds moved through. Next two nights may go lower. Onward.

Sure seems like it, maybe the next three nights. I know the initial drop can come quick right after sundown and be a bit deceiving, plus a little batch of clouds or winds can screw things up, but if I were a betting man, yes.

Last night’s low was 10 but already sitting at 11 here at 6:30. Wow.

Yeah even with the odds greatly against us for this one I'm not fully writing off anything south these days until we get inside of 72 hours, perhaps 60 ha.

The river by MDT is completely indistinguishable from the surrounding terrain. Just pure frozen tundra.

Busted high this morning with 11 at the house and 7 through the rurals. The next three nights look like the peak. Amtrak canceled its first train this morning. Streets are a mess here in Mount Joy. Love the chaos. Let’s bring on some more this weekend (I have not checked any modeling recently).

Hmmmm the 57 might be a little too wound up and have a stronger but more tightly wrapped precip shield. Give me the 81 haha.
