  1. Low of 35 here. Should be a 'beaut today and most of tomorrow, which unfortunately looks like very little rain for us down this way. We are heading up to State College with the kids tomorrow and should see a good bit more up there. Of note, the national high the last couple of days has been below 90. You know what that means........#WinterIsComing
  2. Yeah I think you're right Jonesy. Here is what I have in my notes for 11/15/18, with an added tidbit about T-giving day..... An over-performing storm held on as mostly snow, causing havoc during midday commute. The most accidents I've ever seen in LanCo. Worse NW with 8" Harrisburg & 11" State College. Coldest Thanksgiving day (11/22) ever for most PA locations.
  3. Not shocking. Our lawyers here at work are starting to contract with some sort of AI apparatus that specializes in legal research. This stuff is coming for everyone and everything, for better or worse.
  4. Ain't that the truth friend. Been discussing this very thing with some guys here at work today. All smoke and mirrors with this edition of the Steelers. As you know, my Packers are.......not great ha. And yet, they probably coulda shoulda won that game if not for a couple of things that coulda shoulda happened. Also, in what has become a weekly tradition during LaFleur's tenure, Green Bay is always good for a special teams gaff that comes back to haunt them -- this time by way of a missed extra point that led to them not being able to kick a game-tying field goal at the end of the game. Does anybody think there's much of a difference between those two teams we watched on Sunday, and yet one is 6-3 and the other is 3-6. I digress.
  5. The stations around me all bottomed out around 3am and then the winds picked up and mixed-out the inversion. My low was 35 but it was 41 when I left the house at 6:20am. My high yesterday was 55. MDT is now almost exactly spot-on for its average monthly temp. Onward.
  6. Low of 26 here. National high of 92 at Punta Gorda, FL and low of 3 at Angel Fire, NM. Hoping this system towards the end of the week comes mostly overnight on Friday because we're taking the kids up to State College for the Rutgers game. Yes, I'm a glutton for punishment ha. We have some friends who just got a new camper and invited us to break it in with them at the game. They also have two toddlers so it works out. We'll be staying at Grange Park for the first time. Anyone have any experience there? How did you like it, advice, etc.?
  7. Just got home from the mountains. Low here last night was 30. Gonna settle in here soon for this Packers Steelers tussle.
  8. Also forgot to add we saw some stray flakes falling late last night! #OnTheBoard
  9. Found a little thermometer up here and threw it outside overnight. Low of 23 with a heavy frost. Heading back home later this morning. We survived the toddler apocalypse.
  10. Don’t know what the temp is but a solid frost all over everything up here in the Poconos. Tonight we’ll probably hit low to mid 20s.
  11. Hi of 68 here, assuming my station is functioning properly ha. We did have a good bit of sun here today.
  12. Bahahaha actually this post terrifies me. I now have images of gremlin-like toddlers taking over the house and hog-tying the parents as they devour unlimited cookies and candy while coloring all over the walls with permanent marker. All I know is this, I am responsible for bringing stuff to make orange crushes in the morning and manhattans in the evening and THAT I can handle.
  13. Low of 42 last night and high of 59 yesterday. Heading to the Poconos with the kids this weekend and it's going to cold. We are sharing a house with three other couples and there will be eight toddlers. Yes, eight. Are we crazy? Yes. I have no idea what to expect ha.
  14. Well, I feel nice and refreshed after my brief stint in the Pine Creek watershed, where, by the way, we got almost a tenth of an inch of rain Monday night (not nearly enough to put out our raging fire ha), something we sorely need around here. Had a low of 39 last night. Some good news to report with my home weather station saga, where my high of 74 yesterday appears to be exactly in line with the other reports around me. Little bit of a roller coaster with temps this week before some more sustained cool air settles in for the weekend.
  15. Up here in the mountains of Tioga County the high for the day was 54. We’re gonna build one hell of a raging fire tonight. Cheers everyone. I would post a couple pics but I keep getting that stupid message about the file being too large, even if I try the screenshot trick. Very aggravating.
  16. You know I will! Now, about that Franklin fella.... Tell me about it. I made an impromptu trip to my buddy's cabin up here at 1,800' near the Tioga/Potter line (paging @pasnownut), and I have never seen so many deer carcasses littering the roads. Was telling the boys about it when I arrived. They are going hunting today and my job is to get a nice fire going and keep the whiskey warm. Heading back home tomorrow. Feels good to be up in the mountain air. Complete silence as well. Refreshing.
  17. High of 71 here. Not sure how that compares, haven’t had time to check yet.
  18. Hmmmm i saw all the official readings and knew I was a good bit higher but a lot of the WU stations immediately around my area were similar, so perhaps my region was just warmer yesterday. Curious what @Itstrainingtime reading was. Today will help tell more of the story, me thinks.
  19. A low of 42 here and a high yesterday of…..68. Seems better and more importantly didn’t experience any of the wild spikes and fluctuations. Perhaps still a wee bit on the warm side. What were everyone else’s highs yesterday? Curious to see what today brings with a day of full sun.
  20. Nooners and 50 here. So far so good but the real test will be when we get full sun. Quite overcast here today.
  21. Low of 34. Big news over here, in that this is the first full day I will be measuring temps without my wife’s black shade netting hanging over the pergola. As some of you who have been following this saga may know, I predicted that this black tarp thingy was contaminating my measurements by adding waste heat to the area right near my weather station, leading to high temps that were consistently 3-5+ degrees higher than everyone around me. I am hoping those days are over and I can actually report some accurate daytime highs. If not, I have a bigger problem ha. Today is the day. We shall see.
  22. Busted low here with a 28. Some lower elevation spots in the 24-26 range. Impressive. A nice weekend ahead though. Good fire pit weather for those of you who partake.
