  1. Already down to 22 here with a forecasted low of 17. How low can we go?
  2. Exactly haha. I'm not exactly holding my breath. A large scale upper level trough hanging around over the holidays could be fun though.
  3. The GFS gets very wonky and interesting from late next week on. It's probably nothing but may be something. Riveting analysis, I know.
  4. Happy Friday, all. Low of 19, which was a major bust low around these parts. National high of 81 at Marana, AZ and low of -22 near Roseau, MN.
  5. This was a concern of mine from the get-go. The whole format starts to put a lot of pressure on fans. Many already traveled last week to Indy and many more are hoping to travel next week to the Fiesta. Then you throw in it being arguably the largest family-gathering holiday weekend of the year and the students already being out of session (most of the unsold tickets are within the extra portions of the student section) and yeah, it could be tough to notch a sellout. Plus maybe not the marquee opponent many were hoping for. If the forecast gets real cold or snowy that doesn't help either. With all that said, by the time game time rolls around next weekend I think the stadium will be full, or at the very least won't be noticeably missing people when viewed on television. We shall see.
  6. Apologies if this has already been mentioned, but anybody keeping an eye on this potential for Sunday into Monday? Cold is marginal but places in true central PA like State College could see a few inches. I could see this being one of those events that surprises and amps up a bit as we approach game time.
  7. Keeping in mind that my days run from ~6am-6am (You are standard midnight cutoff for your measurements correct?), I got .23" Monday, .4" Tuesday, and 1.03" Wednesday.
  8. I would love nothing more. Well, the snow that is, not the spending 3k haha. Luckily my best friend's family lives in State College and they keep an open-door policy for us throughout the football season, so no worries with hotels these days. Very thankful for that benefit.
  9. You really put a whopping on me this time, as my 3-day was only 1.66". I had to go back to Aug. 6 to exceed that, when I got 2.27" from torrential T'storms, including one that dropped an inch in 20 minutes. I'll be there. Give me all of it and more.
  10. Multiple mPing reports of snow in dauphin and perry counties from that last band.
  11. Another significant LES event for BUF to deal with in the wake of this frontal passage. Again, put me on a high hill near Dunkirk.
  12. Update: It did indeed pour the entire walk in. Nothing like starting the day with wet feet.
  13. Oh lovely, I’m about to walk through Harrisburg. Currently on the train approaching Middletown.
  14. Yeah right around 11 we had some heavy rain and lightning. Looks like ~.4” here so far but I’ll have a final tally later. Low of 49, 58 when I left the house.
  15. .23” of rain and my temp hasn’t budged an inch since midnight, stuck at 45. Some decent fog through the rurals.
  16. See, I'm of the opposite mind, that artificial turf, despite its advances, is still far more dangerous and causes more injuries than anything that can be brought about by natural conditions. The non-contact injuries are certainly more prevalent on turf.
  17. Speaking of which, what's the scoop with Carson Beck's injury? Feels like he and Ewers have really seen their stock drop this year. Just a wildly unimpressive QB class coming out this year.
  18. They sure did, but it also makes it more embarrassing if you lose ha. Texas has a great path as well. I would not be at all surprised to see a Texas Georgia matchup for a third time. All of these teams are capable of beating each other though. Low of 35 here but up to 43 now. Lots of needed rain on the way before we plunge into a few days of deep cold.
  19. Oh believe me, I don’t “want” to play them but relative to playing Georgia, Texas, Oregon, etc., it’s not a bad draw. Always nice to not be operating from a talent disparity, and yet, no one will be shocked if Boise or SMU knock off Penn State. Let the chips fall where they may!
  20. Right you are, and probably not on TNT either haha.
  21. Tell me about it. I reserved tickets but man for me to pull that off on the family holiday weekend is going to take some serious assuaging of my wife ha. But how about that path, SMU and then Boise. Couldn’t draw it up much better. With that said, I know how this all ends haha.
  22. You can add me to that list. MDT always seems to spike late but they’ll get there.
  23. Man oh man what a wild game last night. Credit to Oregon, they are a load to handle offensively, particularly on a fast indoor track like that. But as others have stated, disappointing that the defense couldn’t put out a better effort than that. I continue to believe Tom Allen is a major downgrade from Manny Diaz. The two picks were really the difference, especially the pick six. Drew also badly missed a few freebies that you just have to hit. Otherwise, he continued to show tremendous pocket presence and effective scrambling ability, in addition to poise and leadership. And that run game, boy oh boy, the offense wasn’t the issue. As for James, I don’t know what it’s going to take to have a team ready to play out of the gate but he needs to figure it out. The timeout with four minutes left when you have Oregon on the ropes and the clock is already stopped was unacceptable. Those timeouts are gold and need to be treated as such. Too often they aren’t. And I hate the decision to go for two at that juncture. Hate it. I’m a stats guy but I don’t give a damn what analytics says. I hate that move anytime a teams does it. I know it’s not this simple but the odds of converting two extra points are far greater than converting even one two point conversion. I hate it. The first half personal foul penalties loomed large as well, as discipline continues to be an issue. At some point James needs to start winning some of these big games, it’s that simple. I’m not one who thinks the officials cost anyone the game but let’s just say a lot of stuff went uncalled last night. I’ll leave it at that. Overall, I thought the guys showed a lot of grit and I think this team can hang with anyone in a year that lacks a truly great team. Bottom line, it will be one hell of a party in two weeks in Happy Valley and that alone is worth it. Onward.
