  1. Did you mean sand drifts? If not you really are as old as Mappy thinks you are.
  2. Not only being an terribly awesome picture but we can continue to see clouds "peaking" and building more than before on the western eyewall. This once again shows that no this is not leveling off and that a CAT 5 before landfall is not impossible.
  3. Looks like a chainsaw, hard to imagine anything it heads into lives. Also the dark black on the eyewall continues to expand which shows strengthening.
  4. I think they are rated for a CAT 3 and no climate change? Don't know for sure but we do typically only build back things to prevent what happened (CAT 3) and not what could happen (this thing).
  5. Not to mention that they will be in the most dangerous spot for tornadoes as well being in the NE quad.
  6. The second I go to sleep this thing takes off.
  7. I have always found it difficult to "root" for hurricanes unless its a fish storm but in the end it does not matter what I think/want to happen the storm does what is does anyways. This is a reason why I like rooting a lot more for snowstorms.
  8. Constant lighting and thunder with a darkening sky to the north looked on radar and there appears to be some rotation on the storm heading my way.
  9. I ment to say that The photos probably are faked but Mistyped, oh well.
  10. Was he/she there for Katerina?
  11. Look, I went to that site and it is a conspiracy site but that is besides the point but for the last image it does look odd on the surface. Though we have no idea if 1. They did not photoshop the clouds there. 2. If there is an actual HARRP base there. 3. If we are even going to talk about HARRP we have to clear up it is not true, there is no way that this exists but even if it did how do we know that the station was on during that photo. As for actual explanations I am not a Met so this is just what I think, first judging the site I would have to think it is fake and two, that looks like a mountainous island which can cause odd cloud formations that spread out over time not unlike that picture.
  12. There are a lot more knowledgeable people on google than here (just in numbers) and google wanted you to see this site if you are here so I am sort of confused.
  13. Maximum Sustained Wind Overall (mph): 130 mphMaximum Sustained Wind at Landfall (mph): 120 mphPressure at Landfall (mb): 963 mbLandfall Location: Directly south of Franklin (the coast of Atchafalaya bay)
  14. The second that eyewall closes its off to the races. Though one thing that could cause problems it if we get a large eye versus a pinhole eye, currently it looks like it trying to make a pinhole style eye. With how the convection is wrapping around.
  15. It appears that the large blowup of convection over cuba was mainly orthographically enhanced which we suspected and now the IR does not look horribly impressive or horrible cant wait to see what this thing is when I wake up.
  16. Yeah, that why I think that a low end cat 1 would be the highest I would be willing to say is an acceptable idea and if the kids are older. I myself am still in high school and would like to case storms but that wont happen until I can drive and even then I am going for cat 1s or below until I am older because anything higher is just a bad idea unless you really know what you are doing.
  17. I think if his kids are older (14 and up maybe) and he was going into a cat 1 or less than that could be pretty fun for both him and the kids but a Cat 4... well I hope you have good insurance.
  18. Looks like the eyewall is almost fully wrapped and an eye is trying to form? Might just be over-analyzing considering its Friday and nothing is happening in class but I dunno looks like an eye.
  19. Holy, storm surge is going to wipe New Orleans off the map
  20. So in other words it has strengthened while heading towards Cuba AND heading over a mountainous island.
  21. Wonder if Cuba will do anything to this storm I think the best we can hope for is a pause in strengthing.
  22. Lightning now going off in the deep convection under the core which is well known sign of rapid intensification.
