  1. Awesome. Yeah I think this moisture is going to make it a little further north than forecasted. Keep us updated.
  2. Your exactly right. So long to have to wait for next winter with all the heat and humidity right around the corner. Seems like we are singing the same tune at this time every year around here now.
  3. Awesone man. That's great to hear. More than the winter storm warning the other day. What I wouldn't give to have the rest of the storm be snow.
  4. Still sleeting here for the past 30 minutes or so. Down to 35.0. Had some pretty moderate bursts so far. Atmosphere is definitely different aloft currently than the last storm. Don't know how the rest of the storm shakes out but I would bet Definitely the mountains foothills piedmont triad should get a little front end thump as well like I just seen. Nice to hear and see sleet. It's been so long.
  5. Just walked outside. 36.0 With Light sleet and flurries mix right now in SW Rutherford county. Didn't even see anything frozen the other day in the winter storm warning. This is a nice little surprise. Be interesting to see what happens when the heavier precipitation arrives later tonight.
  6. I know right. I do remember just one after the blizzard of 93. I remember way back in Jan or Feb of 96 Gary Stephenson on wlos way back then talking about McDowell county was under a blizzard warning at that time. Man am I getting old.
  7. Yes we have all winter long and it continues.
  8. Thanks @strongwxnc. Appeciate the the insight. Looks on the lines of what I was thinking.
  9. What does anybody think for the southern foothills Rutherford county on any ice accumulation or just cold rain. What could be the ballpark figures min and max on ice and any possible snow or sleet for this area at the onset. Thanks for the insight.
  10. That ice storm was the bench mark for me in Rutherford county. 5-6 inches of sleet. Never seen it sleet so hard in my life. Yes there was 2 inches accumulated ice on everything, no power for 10 days. No school for 2 1/2 weeks. Barely above freezing the next 10 days with lows in the single digits and teens at night. Everything was a skating rink outside. Secondary roads were a thick 1-2 inch sheet of ice for 2 weeks. Never forget that ice storm. That one was the big dog around here for Ice Storms
  11. Looks like it's setting the stage. Hopefully some snow and sleet on the front end but somebody is going to get a major ice storm out of this one as it looks now.
  12. Is it just me or are some of the models trending toward more of a widespread ice storm winter storm for southern va tried piedmont nc and now extreme upstate sc later next week. Looks like the cad is trending a lot colder with tons of moisture.
  13. That's exactly right. It was pretty much supposed to be a blowtorch pretty much all winter. To put it in comparison to last winter. I'm in the firewood business. Last Winter from Sep 1st to May 15th we sold (62) truckloads total. This winter from Sep 1st thru today Feb 11th we have sold (144) and still counting. No comparison to last winter in terms of temps. Still have to wait thru march to grade like like @wncsnow said.
  14. So depressing to see that artic air on our doorstep but not making it any further east. Hoping for a miracle in the little bit of time we have left this winter.
  15. 3.5 -4 Inches sw rutherford danieltown 31.0 still snowing lightly all roads covered pine tree branches starting to snap
  16. I know. It's beautiful. @strongwxnc Glad we're finally getting to see some snow in our neck of the woods. Been way to long. Hopefully we get some more in the near future. Happy for everyone who is getting to see snow tonight.
  17. Absolutely pouring snow here in sw rutherford county at 33.0 Just measured 3 inches. It has all accumulated in the past 2 hours. Turning into a nice well overdue snowstorm here. Trees starting to really sag. Probably going to be power issues if it keeps up at this rate.
  18. Almost all snow now in sw rutherford county danieltown. Just starting to stick at 35.0
  19. Maybe I can squeeze out an inch on the front end before the changeover here in Danieltown.
  20. As long as the cold air gets here eventually at the end of next week or the week after is fine. But every cold shot this winter is delayed or disappears on us and this one is not looking good right now. Keeps getting farther out in the long range. Who knows how all this is going to shake out. The models sure as hell don't know.
  21. Maybe a 1979 Daytona 500 southeast snowstorm repeat next weekend for us. Hope the good model trends continue for us. Last night's models were a dream case scenario. Still Looking good this morning.
  22. Man who knows what the next model runs are going to look like after yesterday's runs compared to today. High of 31 and low of 12 for me next Monday now 52 and 29. I just hope the artic air does make it to our neck of the woods the end of next week.Dont need true artic air for good snowstorms around here just a little colder than the systems lately but that has been the key all winter and every winter in the southeast. Like we all know it looks like the moisture is a given like it has been all last year this fall and this winter. Maybe we can get a southern trend instead of all winter storms trending north and the cold air leaving moisture arriving moisture leaving cold returning on one of these next possible (4-5ish) storm systems starting with the one this weekend. Were all due a southern trend this winter hopefully. I would love to have a good old fashion half foot of snow for once like the good old days. But those days seem to be very rare to come by anymore. Still hoping even though very dissapointed today after looking at the models but there is always tommorow.
  23. Never Thought I Would Be So Happy With My 1 Inch Of Snow In SW Rutherford County This Winter But It Has Been A Lot Colder This Winter By Far And On (5) Separate Occasions I Have Seen Snow. (3) Times Just Flurries And The Other (2) Times A Half Inch Each Time. So As Many Opportunities As We Have Missed This Year It's Still By Far Way Better Than Last Winter. Just Seen It Snow One Time Last Winter And Way Above Average Temps As A Whole. Looking For More Snow Chances For The Foothills And Hopefully You Guys In SC Can See Some Snow Also. I Feel Your Pain. I'm Just A Little North Of You Guys. I Usually Always End Up With With The Upstate SC Weather Most Of The Time.
  24. I'm very satisfied with my unexpected 1/2 Inch of snow earlier today in sw rutherford county. I know your happy with what you guys got also @strongwxnc @wncsnow with the way our winter has gone so far. Very Interested in what falls from the main storm system later tonight.
