  1. March prelim data is in, showing a pretty average month for the Midwest. Colder in the northern areas, and warmer in the southern areas.
  2. Snowing here right now. Looking for a couple inches today, and maybe a couple more tonight. Looks like the south shore of the Big Water in for a good snow. Still have old snow on the ground here in town. A testament to the snow of this past winter, and the cooler spring so far. Usually here in town, because it's so open, the snow melts off pretty quickly.
  3. 3-6" of slop around here with higher totals in some areas to the north of up to 12". Round 2 begins tonight as the low slowly moves eastward. Lesser amounts forecast with a general 1-3" to top it off.
  4. WSW for NE MN. Rain to snow. Couple inches for me here in town.
  5. Looks like we had about 1/2-1" of snow last night into this morning in town with 2-3" reports away from the Lake. WSWtch out for NE MN Tues eve into Wed eve. Sloppy April weather. Rn/Sn with possible thunder. MNZ012-020-021-042115- /O.NEW.KDLH.WS.A.0007.220406T0000Z-220407T0000Z/ Northern Cook and Lake-Southern Lake-Southern Cook- Including the cities of Isabella, Two Harbors, Silver Bay, and Grand Marais 401 AM CDT Mon Apr 4 2022 ...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY EVENING THROUGH WEDNESDAY EVENING... * WHAT...Heavy wet snow possible. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches possible. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph. * WHERE...Northern Cook and Lake, Southern Lake and Southern Cook Counties. This includes the Tribal Lands of the Grand Portage Reservation.
  6. April 2013 had Duluth, and TH 7NW at 50+" with 27" here in town for the month. That was incredible. It snowed for 2 weeks. Every couple days we had measurable snow during the 2nd & 3rd weeks of that month. Duluth, MN 2013 50.8 1950 31.6 2014 26.3 1961 24.4 1983 23.7 Two Harbors, MN (in town) 1950 29.3 2013 27.3 1909 20.0 2014 19.5 1933 18.0 Two Harbors 7NW (1998 -present) 2013 51.8 2014 25.3 2003 18.8 2018 17.7 2008 15.8
  7. I have low pressure moving in, and was anticipating it to be a little more robust than what is going to move through. This would have been a great call for March 30 wx tho. Oh well, this was a so-so call. Onward to the Easter time frame.
  8. Couple inches of fluffy snow this morning as the system winds down here. Sticking a little in the trees. Heard my first Canadian goose this morning, so they are starting to return. Rn/sn/ice/ca goose. It's officially Spring
  9. Rain starting, and looks like some freezing is occurring in some areas. Temps right at or a couple degrees above freezing. Some rumbles of thunder being reported, too. Update: It's 2:30 am and just headed to bed. Mixed precip coming down, and roads look rather slick. Morning drive going to be ugly for folks.
  10. Another system like the last one on the 21st. Very mixed scenario. This time they have snow amounts lower for the North Shore. They did well on their last forecast snow amounts on the 21st, so expecting the same here with the lower amounts for that area. WSWtch turned into WWAdv, meaning expectations have been lowered for this system since yesterday.
  11. Cold morning with lows again 5/-5 around the area. 20's for highs over the weekend, too. Now we have a WSWtch for the Arrowhead. Another messy system.
  12. Here's a vid showing the first ships of the season here in Two Harbors. They really have to do some fancy piloting to get in, and out of the harbor here.
  13. 5/-5 for lows this morning around the area. Chilly weekend. Could get slammed with heavy snow here in a few days.
  14. Front moving through with light snow. Gusty NW winds should pick up later. Looks like chilly winter-like weather the next few days. GFS likes to keep a significant system at the end of the month, and I do have something for April 1st in the Holiday 2022 thread. But that's few days off yet.
  15. 3" of slop recorded at the local coop site this morning. Just some snow showers lingering from the east fetch. This stuff is perfect for snowman building. Looks like 5-14" reported at locations up the shore from Silver Bay to the border.
  16. After a week of really nice weather, still quite a bit of ice out on the Big Water. This weather system should reduce it quite a bit tho. Lake pic is from 20th, while ice chart is issued midday 21st. The chart data comes from pm 20th to am 21st sat data.
  17. Raining with some snow starting to mix in now. A little ice on my ramp this morning. Winds are not bad today, up to 25-30 mph. Should turn to all snow later on today with 3-6" of slush by tomorrow. Temps are right at freezing at the moment, and will hover there until later in the night. Tis March EDIT: Starting to freeze on the roads with a little snow. Still mixed stuff, but getting icy out there. Update: All wet, heavy snow now at 4:30 pm. Starting to collect on the roads as sun angle is lower now.
  18. Winds off the Lake getting a bit stronger. A good 40-45 mph now. As the system approaches, strong inflow of dry air can retard the precip for a few hours around the head of the Lake, lessening the totals. Get that radar donut hole.
  19. That's very true for you guys, but up here tho, that would be a so-so call. Cold can linger a while longer here this time of year, but the sun angle still does its work during the aftrn, even if it's slowly.
  20. Windy day with NE winds up to 35. Had some light mix move through this morning, rn/sn/sl. Looks like ice over to snow the next 48 hrs or so. Up to 0.25" of ice, then 3-6" of snow with 6-12" farther up the shore.
  21. Season not quite over for me. Looking like the next couple weeks going to be rather interesting up my way.
  22. Looking forward to the next couple weeks. Hoping some of these systems wrap up to bring me a good storm (blizzard??). Would be nice. I noted one potential in my Holiday forecast thread on April 1st.
  23. Looks like temps for the next week will still be running around 40 for highs, and 25-30 for lows. Sloppy weather mixed in there with the rn/sn mix typical this time of year. Overnight always best for decent snows.
  24. 2010 was well above normal all 3 months, but 2012 had the more avg weather in April.
  25. Boring, but nice weather. Temp's have been running in the 40's, with 30's for lows the last couple days. Melting is happening slowly but steady. With morning lows staying at or above freezing, the days warmth can work the snowpack much easier than if it had to put energy into warming it up first. Dirty snow banks are really shrinking now.
