Decent forecast. Looks like high pressure will clear things out on Monday. System started affecting the W sub on the 11th so a little more than a couple days.

More history from Philadelphia starting in 1790-1847. Lots of cool historical weather records around, but so many are not necessarily as complete as the ones we have noted here. Many are from military camps across the country, and are not quite complete. Another note would be to remember that those early records are very rural, so it would be nice to compare the most rural records in an area as possible to see how things faired over time. Minneapolis, Philadelphia, etc started very rural, and became very urban in temp recording location. And those locations next to the Lakes like Duluth, Chicago, etc started near the shorelines, then moved inland. Changing the temp profile (diurnal range, and avg) in both instances. Here in Philly, you can see the avg temp is no greater than 54 until the late 1870's, when the avg is greater than that regularly, and slowly warms from there. Too bad there is a three decade gap. Also of interest is the reference to the year without a summer in 1816 after that massive eruption of Tambora the year before. https://books.google.com/books?id=yXkWAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA9&lpg=PA9&dq=temperature+philadelphia+1790&source=web&ots=kDcJ9xhG8H&sig=ocb5JfGI5A8j5ApWfBacyRyY2pY&hl=en&sa=X&oi=book_result&resnum=3&ct=result#v=onepage&q&f=false

When I was landscaping, that would be ideal. But now 75-80 with 60-65 dews is comfortable. More than that gets too stuffy, and you need A/C. Rather not have to use that, but we get a few days when it's needed. My doctor mentioned a few years ago that northern folk are pretty hardy, and can adjust rather quickly to swings in climate, unlike others that live further south.

In a couple months, you'll wish it was like this LOL

Going to be in the 70's here today in town. Windows are open, and furnace off. Very nice!
-
Because your listing cities on the eastern edge of my chart range, thought I'd put this one up. Those charts are closer to the eastern US profile, and what I have is much closer to those for April.
-
Prelim data in for April. Slightly cooler than avg. The last 11 yrs (since 2013) have had 8 yrs of avg/well below avg temps. Charts shown 5/10 yr trends respectively.

Lol, better than 3' of snow. Yeah, typical weather around the big pond as things begin to warm. NE MN is full of swamp, too, so dense fog is common all over this region. Some thunder developed over the lake, and moved through last night with 0.1" of rain. Nice to see, and hear Spring. Temps looking good this week with a little "cooler by the lake" as usual. "Skeeters" will be robust this year, as well. They're usually not bad in town, thankfully, but flies are the pits. At least they're easier to kill until it's over 80F, then they get real speed. Skeeter buzzing your head at 0 dark 30, and trying to smack that SOB (seeing stars sometimes when you miss LOL) is a real pain.

Temps of 75-80 with 60-65 dews is perfect summer weather. Anymore is just miserable.

You can see from the annual values in the charts above to the official record starting in the 1870's how things line up. Warming started in the 20's there. Would be interesting to know the locations of the measurements back then, but Detroit grew pretty fast, with landscape changes, all helped change the temp profile some. Pretty cool historical record. Added the MSP chart for comparison starting in 1820, and it's pretty similar. The 1850's - mid 1870's were a bit cool, and that data is missing with your charts, and the Detroit graph. But prior to the 1850's it was pretty back and forth overall from warmer, and cooler years. Wonder what kicked off those cooler decades? But at the same time during then, a big drought was going on in the western half of the country, although not as bad as centuries before. Very interesting. https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/climate/twin_cities/pioneer.html

Temps are in the 50's right now here, with some wind (25-35 mph) that will die down later today. Looks pretty seasonable in the coming days with generally E winds, and temps in the 50's n 60's. Pretty dry conditions on tap.

Yeah, insane dude. Winter heaven, Spring nightmare!
-
Pretty tough start to May, and still coming down hard over the UP.
-
Weather for this day will be starting on the 28th of April, and exiting on the 1st of May. So I'm off on the timing of this event. And there will be some snow in the northern areas.
-
Cool, wet weekend on tap starting tonight. A little snow in the mix, but nothing major. Typical weather for this time of year, although I see the UP not quite done with wintery weather yet. Could be a decent snow hit there. Well, I had my turn for the last big hit a few days ago, now they get theirs.

Banner snows for the shore NE of me, but still 6-10" in the higher terrain outside of town with 3-4" in town. Had lots of sleet mix in during the aftn wave that went through here closer to the lake. Looks like 6-8" west of me. A good Spring snow storm to end the season. Still could see a little more here and there until mid May, but the bigger stuff should be over now. TH 7NW set their record snow season with this storm as well. Banner snow year around Western Lake Superior.

Close call here. Still a lingering low over Lake Superior with attending troughs swinging around. Cooler with a little mixed precip possible.

1.5" of wet snow here this morning, and Duluth finally achieved its record snow season. Windy day, too, with gusts 40+. Ugly weather on tap starting today. Higher terrain could have some issues with ice tomorrow. Will see how close TH 7NW can get to their record snow season (6.3" needed). Duluth has this one with only 0.4" needed.

Not hard to see where the banding set up with this system. There was a very narrow band that set up just west of me that put down 8" across the Iron Range. Pretty cool. More snow later this week my way with another 3-6" possible. Duluth record going to broken easy, and just maybe TH 7NW. @OrdlowPitMsp still may have a little powder at Lutsen next weekend if that's still on.

Looks like a general 1-3" around the head of the lake with 6-8" being reported on the Iron Range W/NW of me. Still snowing that way too, but it's a narrow band. Duluth picked up 3.3", so they are within an inch of beating the snow season record.

~1" of snow here this morning, and under a WSW for Lake, and Cook counties. Could end up with 3-6" here by tomorrow morning, but I'm right on the edge so we'll see what happens. South shore getting slammed with a foot or better tonight.

Well, Duluth will be inching a little closer to snow season record. As I mentioned in an earlier post here, April will have some surprises. Some light rain moving through right now, but later tonight into tomorrow will be the the wintery scenario, especially WI into the UP MI, and maybe even MSP.

Very nice here. Low to mid 60's the last couple days with some low 70's being reported in the area.. Cooler by the lake with mid 50's, but that's normal. Today going to be another warm one in the upper 60's - low 70's, but reality hits with the coming storm passage for a chance of snow this weekend, especially into Monday. LOL But that's more normal mid April weather.

Posted this a few months ago in the Holiday 2022 thread for July 4, 2023. That approaching front should stir things up for the evening in the western sub with rising temps.
