  1. We really only have another 2-3wks to get the big heat before it starts to cool off in time for fall. Hopefully we can avoid any crazy temps again this year. This is the first year I'll have been retired so will not have to work for September into October for outage season. It's always the best weather then and I've always had to work like 60hr weeks, but not this year. Can't wait to actually enjoy the fall weather for once. Sent from my Pixel 6 Pro using Tapatalk

  5. Solid rain here. Hey how do I contribute money so I can attach more pics? I'll buy this forum for a year if it means I don't have to dick around trying to shrink jpegs down so they can be posted.

I've got a good feeling for this winter, just like I had for last winter.
  7. Trying to do trim work on the driveway....so humid...sweat....hot....can..not..make..it. Benson has the right idea.

Yes, people grounded in science and physics know this, ideologists on the other hand....but hey, it's a start.

Hell even JB has begun to capitulate to the fact that GW is real. He's only reached phase 2 of denial though - "GW is real but not due to humans, it's due to water vapor from super ninos".

I'm trying to decide which snowblower to buy. So far I'm thinking a tracked Honda snowblower to handle the big snows. Also bought a wood stove for our tent. It's gonna be epic.
  12. The only drought around here lately is the drought of sunny days. Lots of clouds, I'm sure it'll translate to epic snows this winter.

I ain't got time to bleed, or wait til February snows. What's it take for a Garrett county December to remember?

Southern sliders in a la Nina? Sign me up. How does Garrett county do during la Ninas?
  15. Shoosh, you're ruining the fun.
  16. I remember the derecho well. I was watching Doug Hill during dinner give the forecast and he showed the radar and indicated it was a derecho - I believe it was still in Ohio at that time. He really dismissed it as a non event and I told my wife I couldn't believe why he'd do that and made sure we cleaned up all the furniture and umbrellas.on our back deck. Went to bed and a few hours later all hell broke loose. It was like a tornado for about 5mins. Went out the next morning and all my river birch trees I had planted a couple years prior were just bent right over. No power for a few days later I actually bought a winch and jacked the trees back up and tied them to a.large.tulip poplar to hold them up for a year. They're doing awesome now btw. Well, the snow storm from new years this winter did snap one right over....finishing what the derecho couldn't do.
  17. Is there an analog for winters following a year without a summer?
  18. We're gonna roll up to Meadow Mountain this weekend and camp for a few days just east of DCL. Hoping for some nice cool weather. Benson, aka Wolfgang pup, is ready to rock.
  19. My.comment aged like milk...ended up with just over an inch last night and still some light showers this morning. Drought canceled.
  20. Yeah it's plotting E-W here too. Thundering nonstop but no precip.
  21. I haven't looked lately but in recent years a lot of the above average anomalies were the nightime temps. So while on paper we were above average that was mostly at night when we are sleeping. That might not be the case this year, not sure. All I know is I'm able to go outside after work in jeans and a long sleeve FR shirt and not sweat which hasn't been the case much recently. Now if it would just translate into a colder and wetter normal January...
  22. Yeah, Junes like 2012 really shifted the mindset. I mean we even had our fireplace going last weekend. I haven't done that in at least a decade during June. Not complaining, just seems abnormal after all the years of heat and humidity. And to be fair, it's not like this is early June, July is a week away.
  23. Man this is shaping up to be a year without a summer. I'm not complaining, the temps have been great. It is really dry in my are and bushes are starting to wilt. Hopefully the storms produce this evening.
