  1. Sorry, 91F outside right now
  2. Guess I will call for a second opinion. We actually do have an attic fan (along with almost full length ridge vents), I had to replace the motor two weeks ago and I was sweating to death in the attic and lamenting the shitty AC upstairs, which is what prompted me to call the tech in the first place. I don't ever recall this issue so something mustve changed in the past year. Sad thing is half my job is refrigerant thermodynamics (on a city-sized scale) but I've never bothered to do the calculations for the AC unit. Onward...
  3. I literally replaced the filter this morning which is why I was measuring temps in the attic. No icing, I had someone out to look at it about two weeks ago because I had same concerns but they said it looked good. Maybe I need a second opinion. As an experiment I shut off the AC and am just running the fan circulating air. Intake air is 75F and it's putting out 81F after a few mins. Maybe my attic's just too hot.
  4. 75F indoors in my master bedroom right now. Perhaps the dynamics are different due to my downstairs unit which is putting out 58F air at the same time. It's waaaaaaasay more effective.
  5. Yeah if I ever move to a new house all the handlers are going to be in the building envelope. I'd probably only move into a single story home at this point so I guess it wouldn't matter anyway. I just checked the attic with a temp gun - decking 136F. Return duct to the air handler - 106F exterior. Cold air ducts to the rooms, all about 96F exterior. They're all insulated of course but there's no way around heat gain being in that environment. Air coming out of the vents is 68F, barely enough to cool the rooms even running nonstop.
  6. Whoever is responsible for putting air handlers in the attic deserves to live in an attic all summer. My upstairs thermostat barely reaches setpoint by morning. It's so hot in the attic the unit has to run basically nonstop all night. I have a top of the line trane inverter unit downstairs which has no trouble but alas heat rises. Looking forward to this weekend too.

You don't actually post any theory behind the maps so it's hard to get excited about them. I mean I could post up the same maps....tell us what going on behind the scenes and what it means and then maybe ppl would start engaging with you more.
  9. Wow serious thunderstorms all around us but so far we've avoided any serious rain. Me and Benson are keeping a low profile for now.

Yeah but it shows us with "much above avg snow". So I'm gonna clutch it at least til mid-December.

Bastardi is hinting toward a 1954-55 type winter. You'll be shocked to know it's colder than average. Lock it in.
  13. Journal day 129 of drought 2022. It only rained 3/4" today. Tomatoes are bursting and mosquitoes are enforce. I almost had to water the garden 42 days ago but it poured rain so I didn't. Not sure how we're going to make it but we press on. The high sun angle won't allow for snow much less cooling rain. Will continue to update assuming we can make it more days with only moderate rain.
  14. Dump'n hard outside right now. Tiny little guy. ETA, looks like 3/4" from this cell.

Idk, I got like 15" on that one storm so if we can repeat last year I'm cool.
  16. Went to the mailbox just now.

  18. I'm thru with this shit. I was out changing caterpillar bags and just moving my eyeballs caused a sweat. Where's September at?
  19. Ah geez, guess that's a dead giveaway for my day job.
  20. Is it possible for dew points to reach negative square root values? It's so friggin stifling outside.
  21. Man this morning I was walking the pup and it felt and smelled like I was in Saint Lucia. Except for the muddy bay and lack of the epic view of the pitons. But aside from that it was basically the same.

December is here, and the force is with him.
  23. Yup, like a rainforest down here again. Trees sure have grown fast these last few years.
