  1. IronTy, "Ridgehunter", saw the bat signal for the SER go up. Ospreys have probably already reached the NC coast. Gonna set my hummingbird feeders out next weekend...
  2. I do trust the March will be below normal and windy, we seem to be good at doing that. Of course that just means highs in the mid-40s with cold sun and wind. I specifically take a vacation during March because cold march weather sucks and is useless.
  3. Well great. February torch it is then.
  4. Meh, wake me up when it's a full on ALEET.
  5. 39F and heavy dark outside here.
  6. When I first moved down here from Michigan in 2004 we got a couple 2-4" snowfalls and I was like "cool, the DC area isn't bad". Now I think it's an eternal hellhole for snow and outside of 2009-2010 (and maybe 2016) it's useless for anything other than derechos and humidity. I actually have snowshoes, wtf am I going to do with that shit now? Bring on global warming at this point, at least we can have anoles and geckos.
  7. We much prefer doing most things like backpacking, camping, etc during winter for exactly that reason. No sweat and no bugs.
  8. I'd take it. I made sure to cut my lawn real short in late November so it won't take much to cover it.
  9. Well I've been able to assemble a rope team so health willing we will be attempting to summit mount rainier this August. Last time we did it I was 33yo. Ten years and two hip surgeries later I'm more than a little apprehensive to see if the ole body is up to it again. I'll be rope lead so I have to go back and relearn all the routes and shit again.
  10. Aliens. They practically own South America.
  11. The US and Europe needed exceptional warmth this winter to avoid natural gas price armageddon. Call it manifest destiny.
  12. Remember that time when Boston got like 500" of snow in 3wks? Lol.
  13. Finished our walk with "moderate flurries", not quite light snow. Still 51F. Either that or Yellowstone erupted earlier and the fallout has just reached southern Maryland.
  14. Wtf it's 52F outside and I swear to God there are flurries.
  15. Bet. Remember I gave up on tracking storms and am tracking the SER these days.
  16. In my experience it's always better to have a threat north and west of us on the GFS a week out vs. south and east.
  17. The two posts above really highlight the futility of this hobby.
  18. Lovely April day out here today. Even heard a couple wood frogs calling.
  19. Gorgeous day today, even have the windows open to get some fresh air in. 56F.
  20. And we know it's a lock to verify too. Perfect skill score when it comes to predicting the ridge.
  21. Tru. January is the new vacation season with no bugs to worry about.
