  1. I think I'd just go Donner party or Shining at that point. They could dig out what was left of me in spring.
  2. I don't know if I got it in me to shovel another foot+ snowstorm. I ain't as young as I used to be.
  3. I'm torn. In order for my snowfall comp forecast to verify I need that GFS to track north to DC-Balt. But as it is now SoMD is jack. Not sure what to root for at this point.
  4. The colors don't go high enough for Kuchera.
  5. If it doesn't happen then at least we'll have found a new way to fail.
  6. I don't know how the models picked out 2016 so early. I swear the CFS seasonals were showing it by late fall.
  7. Didn't we slap import tariffs on the GEM? Toss that model.
  8. Yeah, around here we can't afford to punt even a cloudy cold day when it comes to snow potential. If my bar was double digits I'd be punting more than a low rate HS football team.
  9. So basically if it's less than X" snow potential then you don't look at it when perusing the latest model run? I guess I can get that.
  10. But that implies there is some sort of horse trading that can be done with weather. We all just get what we get and we don't have any control over it so I still don't get the concept.
  11. I've seen this statement over the years on here, what does "only hunting big game" mean? I mean, we're all just sitting on our phones looking at the exact same model outputs every few hours. We all see the same data. I'm picturing a "big game hunter" pulling up h5 maps with Fred Bear playing in the background or something. Is that a big game hunter?
  12. Be sure to bring your patio umbrellas inside too. They can tip over with enough ice.
  13. You heard it here first that this winter was gonna be epic. I think I can win the snowfall forecast comp if this is as good as advertised.
  14. ALEET!!!! JB has just invoked the Sistine Chapel pattern recognition! Big snows incoming.
  15. Last February was lit! Epic snows and glacial cold, just as progged. Right?
  16. This is good sign for the drought. Hopefully February is a pattern change in storm tracks and we can score wet, either rain or snow is fine by me.
  17. You can't drink all day if you don't start first thing in the morning... WeatherBug shows me at 65F and rain on 2/6. So will it be an ice storm or will I need to be vigilant for mosquitoes when I walk the dog? Time will tell but I'm pretty sure I know which it'll be. Will be a goodnight for a spotted salamander hunt.
  18. What the funk? I swear yesterday I came on here and people were talking about snow potential for 2/6 and now I see I'm gonna have to turn my A/C on instead? Somebody get these models some BPD meds.
  19. It's this time of the season when weenies come out of the woodwork with tales of big snows from Marches of yore and how we can still score before bud break.
  20. Agreed. Though the logical, and more important next question is which physical phenomena underlying that is the main driver? That's why I went first to sea ice extent. If global warming is causing a delay in sea ice advance by several weeks on average then is that albedo change delaying the most intense arctic outbreaks in the region by the same amount on average? But I don't even know if Arctic sea ice shows a similar pattern as I haven't looked into it. It was just the first thing that came to my mind.
  21. I hear you, it can get pretty gloomy out there with snow on the ground when it's warm and rainy.
  22. Was just out in Swanton this weekend...don't worry they'll have plenty of snow. I was snowshoeing on our property and most areas had two feet of powder on the ground. Though I just looked and it seems there's a good chance of rain out there Saturday. That would stink...but there will be snow...fwiw.
