Just non existent afternoon pop ups this year. What a dud of a season. It’s starting to hit me as it’s already July 22nd.
Rain chances in the next 5 days disappeared and so far the 80% chance of rain has went just south of us.
Big line came through around noon. Tornado warned. Very quick. Forecast had a 2nd line that never showed up.
Picked up 0.28” imby. We haven’t had a rain or storm event that has given us >0.75” since May 18. Two entire summer months.
That time frame we hit 102 in Knoxville Tennessee. 100 for 3-4 straight days. I remember it was dry leading up to that.
That caused a drastic shift in plant populations. Bermudagrass took over and many tall fescue landscapes left for good. I think of my time in TN as pre July 2012 and post July 2012.
Where is all my rain?? We were locked in for rain Friday - Monday. 4 straight days.
Now we just got rain yesterday evening......and that’s it? Was supposed to get rain during the night. Supposed to get it today. Sunday. And Monday.
How did that forecast just turn into partly cloudy and a high of 80.
We’ve seen it here too. Toronto got blitzed yesterday by a big one that caused some flash flooding.
Nothing here in the last 2 weeks. The sound of crunch is getting old when walking on (what used to be) grass.
This is what a typical lawn looks like here. Sodded 2+ years ago. Only thing green are weeds.
Low to mid 90s next week. Chance of rain next Friday.
Drought is the theme here. But heat is making a run for it.
The 5-10 day forecast was pure awesome. Very humid. Light winds from the SW. moderate risks for good afternoon t-storms almost daily.
Wiped away. Mundane. Rock ya asleep.
I enjoy the light angles this time of year. From about May 7 to about August 1 my yard gets enough sun to form a dense canopy.
I live in suburbville where most of the shade comes from houses.
78 degrees in Timmins Ontario. 75 in Ottawa. 73 in Montreal. 75 in Quebec City.
Meanwhile - Kitchener, Guelph, and Toronto haven’t hit 70 yet this year.
Edit: Sault Ste Marie and Owen Sound also hit 70+ today. This has to be a first.
Today briefly hit 63-64. Nice pleasant surprise. Looks like 72 hours of mostly clear skies.
Im calling Thursday as our first 70 degree day. Going to get the fireball on ice.
I’m going to switch my vacation days. Tuesday was supposed to be great. No way in heck I’m going to take Tuesday off from work now. Went from 71 degrees to 51 degrees. I’ll take off that following Monday instead.
