  1. Big time over performer in KW. Picked up 8 inches (20cm). Snowed from 10 am - 6:30 pm. Beautiful snow. Off an on showers now. Initial predictions this morning called for 5 - 10 cm. Up it to 10-15 cm by noon and then half way through they issued a warning for up to 20 cm. Will likely finish with 21-22 cm.
  2. 5-10 cm was the same for KW. I’m thinking we have a chance to over perform that by a hair.
  3. Looking pretty good here in Kitchener Ontario. Perfect timing too. Snow TV should start around noon.
  4. What the heck happened to the Canadian Rockies. Went from moderate temps to incredible snow. The cold air anomalies just keep sweeping in for 2 weeks straight according to the GFS.
  5. Smoke is bad in northern PA. Was going to go to Cherry Springs State Park tonight to star gaze. Cancelled it because of smoke pollution.
  6. I’ve seen more flashes of lightning at night this past Monday and Tuesday night than all other summer nights combined. Today I could feel moisture in the air and the morning dew pretty much never left. It was awesome.
  7. Nothing severe here. But the most spectacular light show of the year for us.
  8. That wasn’t my lawn. This is my lawn.
  9. It did and it was great. I was so demoralized that I didn’t put out my rain gauge but I think we got about a half inch. Also had 2-3 good rain showers throughout the day.
  10. The sensor comments are interesting. It’s put a few things in perspective. When we we hear things like “hottest year on record” or “wettest year on record” for a particular city....it’s really just a record for that particular weather station.
  11. This whole weather system is going to miss us. I love being in close proximity of weather alerts every other day though.
  12. This lawn was completely dormant by the 2nd week of July. I honestly think it’s dead from the drought. In the last 105 days, we’ve only had 1 day in which we got >0.75”
  13. Beautiful little unexpected rain shower this evening. I poured myself a scotch to really soak it in.
  14. I wish there was a high resolution precipitation total map for Ontario. I think Kitchener thru Guelph were the only places that got completely shut out.
  15. 0.00” running the backyard irrigation. I’m not saying we need to put somebody in front of congress....but the forecast of 1.2-2.4” wasn’t close. The rain never got close.
  16. https://mobile.twitter.com/StormhunterTWN/status/1299492806105477120 Right around the 1:00 mark. “I’m beginning to doubt the models have a good handle on this”. When the minimum bar for precipitation is >1.0” and you don’t see a single drop....yeah. I’d agree.
  17. So far we haven’t had one drop of rain. We’ve been under a special weather advisory all day for heavy rainfall. Speaking with locals in my immediate community- this isn’t good. Confidence in forecasts is at an all time low. At this point I do think it’s in our best interest to get hammered by a severe (but not life threatening) storm. There is a serious “I’ll now believe when I see it” mentality. There could be an EF 5 tornado barrelling down on us and our population of 500K wouldn’t believe it. We’ve had tornado warnings, severe storm warnings, high rainfall advisories....but all the common folk see is....clear skies.
  18. I hope so. Big slug pounded far SW ON earlier today. I have my doubts for here but I’m hoping to get hit. Environment Canada has maintained the 30-60mm advisory since yesterday and they haven’t budged away from that number as of yet.
  19. I don’t know enough to explain anything. But tornado warnings are now up in areas south of London. It looked very ominous watching it from my porch.
  20. Throwing in the white towel. This incredible line missed me by just mere miles. It’s diving SE
  21. Picked up less than 0.10” in today’s rainout event. Not complaining. With the persistent cloud cover, I do feel it was an overall net positive on soil moisture.
  22. There were a couple of very small localized pop ups earlier. The TWN just....missed this one? The radar this evening is completely blank.
  23. Few storm clouds in the distance as usual. Another full week without a drop of rain. 0.2” in last 20 days. Crop losses are pretty immense in a very very localized area.
