  1. It’s crazy that we are just in the first 10-11 days of official winter. Yet I’m completely done with it. Punt this season.
  2. Picked up an inch of beautiful snow in about 30 minutes. Was just ripping. Now some pellets are coming down.
  3. The 18Z NAM onboard with a 3-5 inch band of snow along the entire 401.
  4. About half an inch to freshen up the existing snow. Currently 27 and will creep up to upper 30s this afternoon. Sub freezing overnight. Should be good for the ice pack on our roads.
  5. Eye balled about 4-5 inches or so. Very pleased. Feeling fortunate as this was our 3rd storm of 4+ inches this year.
  6. Snowing at a pretty good clip now. It also appears that the system is more organized at this hour for my area than previously thought.
  7. At 12:40 we switched over. Rain immediately turned into cotton balls.
  8. HRRR - what a Christmas torch for those just south of Montreal. 57 degrees. Warmer than almost everywhere in the Deep South.
  9. I really enjoy a nice stiff drink while watching snow TV. The timing of the Ontario snow looks to be very late Christmas Eve through mid morning or so. Not sure to stay up late or just put a little bailey’s in the coffee the next morning. Unrelated- but I’ll be monitoring the Susquehanna river near Binghamton. Relative warmth plus heavy rain could be interesting.
  10. It’s pretty neat to see the different possible outcomes this close to the event. The first drops in the area will happen within 12-15 hours and some of the local Mets I follow are silent.
  11. These are some good trends, considering that yesterday morning I thought we were dead in the water. Out of this sub forum, but I still monitor the Knoxville TN area. For years those posters would dread this setup. Cold chasing rain never seemed to work out in that valley.
  12. Slowed down then? Just looking at the L and toggling between frames.
  13. Binghamton NY may have an opportunity to hit 50+ inches for the season by January 1.
  14. My wife’s family lives in Binghamton. They finished with just over 24 inches. I’m bummed because in a non Covid year I would have been there. I absolutely would have started my holiday a few days early to enjoy that blockbuster storm.
  15. During the morning of December 23rd it may not rain a single drop anywhere in the continental US.
  16. Unless I’m seeing things it looks like the GFS and 3k Nam have the snow shield inching ever so slightly to the NW. I may see some flakes out of this one.
  17. Beautiful day here. Temps above predicted. Currently 47 degrees and not much wind. Feels balmy after the last week or so.
  18. By far my least favourite storm track is a Low moving NW from central Illinois through Central Michigan and continuing NW. All we get is rain, then a backside flurry with the full load of cold air. You don’t get to enjoy any mild weather without accompanying rain and you get all the cold air without snow as the front passes.
  19. We’ve had 2 decent winter storms so far. I’m already ready for spring. In just 18 days the amount of sunlight will be increasing each day.
  20. I know the reasons why, but it’s still crazy to see that the same storm system that could provide snow to portions of Alabama and Georgia could largely be a rain event for Ottawa and Montreal.
  21. Really starting to grasp at straws in finding things to do out of the house. Two very young kids (4&1).
  22. It was a brutal summer. Precipitation has been steady the last month and a half. I feel like we just cashed in on one of the top 2-3 snowstorms of the ‘winter’ and couldn’t be happier. This was a perfect snow. Happened on a Sunday. Snowed during the day. Exceeded expectations. Just perfect.
