The higher deck of clouds were preventing the sun from doing work on the lower deck.  Now that the higher clouds have passed, it is only a matter of time.  I see blue.  78.7 and humid.

The smoke is causing at least a 30% reduction in incoming solar on my station.  Sitting at an amazing 76.5 in the afternoon on August 1st.

0.90" yesterday for a healthy 7.83" July precip total.

Glad the Germantown crew looks like they are in good shape.  Heard from my brother west of Frederick that there is some wind damage there.  Still waiting to the south to see what pops and where.

Looks like the airport highs may be 96 DCA, 97 BWI, 98 IAD, which would be identical to yesterday.

4pm obs.  97 at IAD/BWI.  95/76 at DCA on a river wind.

Frequency diagram of max yearly temps at DCA.  98 is the most common.  28/82 years (34%) have reached 100 degrees.  However, it is streaky with a couple of 7+ year streaks without 100 degrees in the historical record.

Just got to 90 at home.  Looks like the airports are all around 91.
