  1. It seemed to me that wave on the 19th-20 tried even a little harder to stay together this time. At least it did to my untrained eye. The rest of the 18z GFS looked like a cold dry whiff. But it will probably change next time. Euro and Canadian seemed to have the 22-23rd system at 12z.
  2. Yep, I was 5 years old here in Montgomery County. The 1969 Christmas snow is my very first snow memory. We had 10 inches here as well which is close to the all time 24 hour record for Clarksville with 12 inches. That was my first memory of snow and one of the reasons I love it so much. Would love to have a white Christmas like that again.
  3. A question for Carver and others with good weather knowledge. Could the snowpack to our northwest help with the push of arctic air or at least keep the air from modifying as quick as advertised at times on modeling? And do models sometimes struggle with arctic air masses as the come south, especially ones that have a good snowpack to our northwest? Thanks in advance.
  4. Pulling for all but that track would smack me good. East Tenn would be in ice it looks like. Hopefully we all get the right track for snow. I have to say the possibilities have me excited.
  5. I am located in northwest middle tenn. I enjoy reading on here especially getting your updates Carver. Finally recovered my password where I could post again. I know our areas need different scenarios to score sometimes but I like to hear the thoughts of folks over here. Hope all of Tennessee can have a great winter. Would love to see snow non the ground at Christmas. Now I will go back to listening more and posting shorter thoughts in the future.
  6. Seems like everything is getting pushed south of us right now. Maybe that is a good thing at this point.
  7. Here in nw middle tn I stayed between 33-34 all night. Clarksville is just too my east is now at 35. It does look like to me that the temps have started back to dropping a little back in eastern ark and southwest missouri and extreme western ky. Tonight should get interesting here I would think.
  8. All right here we go, west and middle tn buckle up maybe it's our time for winter weather!!!! Go luck for everyone on the forum, hopefully at some point we get a big snow!!!!
  9. GFS still showed a round of ice and then snow with the first 2 systems on the GFS from what I seen.
  10. I live just outside of clarksville in western Montgomery County. Not too far from you.
  11. To me the latest CMC run came in closer in line with the GFS also overall. Kinda looked colder too me as well. I am right?
  12. January of 77 we went on Christmas Break on the 19th of december and we headed back to school the morning of the 4th of January only to be turned around before arriving. We didn't go the entire month of January. That was a great winter in Montgomery County.
  13. Yep in 1985 I remember Clarksville recorded a -17 without wind chill. That was a great year and plenty of snow and super cold.
  14. Carver thank you for your almost daily briefings, I love to follow your write ups and thoughts. I am wrong in thinking that the 10th-12th timeframe might be a good time if we can catch a wave out in front and the coldest of arctic air? Excuse me for asking if my question sounds silly.
  15. Seems like we don't need the super arctic air to get snow, according to most models that last few runs we have too much cold which is suppressing everything to our south. In these cases a nw trend is possible I would think or at least may the arctic mass speed needs to slow down. Just don't want to see suppression, us in middle and west tn have been too far west so far this year it will be a kick in the shins for all systems go to our south. I would rather see the systems under us a 5-10 range versus north of us for sure. Maybe it's good we aren't in the bullseye still aways out, and still time for changes even some pretty big ones I would think.
  16. According to people that no more about it than me when the MJO is in 7 in February the phase is colder.
  17. Yep do a little play by play, I haven't heard you do that in a while. I love it when we are in this pattern.
  18. I advise all parents to tell them to tell virtual to stick it the kids are going to play in the snow.
  19. All my snowchips are in on the upcoming 2 weeks, if appears that true cold may indeed get involved and a overrunning pattern could very develop along the boundary with systems running along it. Here's especially hoping for areas of west and middle tn north of I-40 we haven't gotten much more than a flurry for the most part. But I think the entire state will has the opportunity in the coming 2 weeks. Good luck everyone and keep your thought coming I love to read them and enjoy the info.
  20. What trend do we need to get us more in the game with this storm. I have been watching the carolina folks looking at this one for days. Seems to be trending better now for ky and tn. Hope it continues now that we are getting closer in the timeframe.
  21. West and Middle tn special on GFS, it's only 378 hours out!!!! Reel it in!!!!!
  22. Yep, there have been things to track but it will be 3 disappointing years in a row if middle and west tn don't get a least 1 decent snow. I am into year 3 without having recorded even a quarter inch from 1 event. We have had to very light dustings this year. The last legit snow we had was the week in jan of 2018. Still holding out hope, but time is running and I am tired of the teasing and ready to see winter show up and show out!
  23. Well it seems since you posted that, the models have went wonky wild. Here's hoping your right and winter comes barreling in full bore!
  24. Yes, this would be a nice pickup for west and northern middle tn. And get us ready for what the rest of the month brings, hopefully everyone in tennessee will be getting some good action as we get into later Jan and early Feb.
