    Good luck to you all in East Tennessee on this first system. Maybe it will work out for higher elevations.

    It seems like the second system on the euro has started a slow trend of cutting quicker more northwest. West Tennessee pretty much out of picture on the most recent run for storm 2. Also not seeing the cold air press as much either. There is still time for change just seems like everything has been cutting into the Midwest and toward the lakes. Just hope we aren’t in a pattern of being teased by cold air coming south only to see it stall to our northwest. And then when it does come we get to much and it’s suppression. Just kind of worried We aren’t going to time things right. You would think in the next few weeks we could once anyway.

    With the first storm I would expect model guidance to at least start converging on some type of general idea in the next 2-3 days. We are around 6 days out from the first system.

    Yes, hopefully we can get the boundary to sit over or just south of us. Don’t need it to cut to quick or too far south and east especially for middle and west tenn. The one bad deal for Tennessee winter weather lovers is what works for west and middle often doesn’t for East Tenn. It’s been a long time since we have had the perfect southern slider that nails the entire state just right. Hopefully we have enough systems come through everyone gets in on something in the next 2-3 weeks.

    Yep, I know the operational will move around some and can’t be taken too seriously beyond 7 days but that run still cut the first 2 storms way to early for anybody in Tennessee then the last storm stays suppressed. Just hope it isn’t a wet and warm to cold dry scenario. It would be nice for things to slow down a little as well. At least it does look like there will be some cold around at times. Maybe things come together and we don’t have a lot of swing and misses.

    We need cold but we don’t need vodka cold. We don’t want constant suppression, but hopefully enough SER for the track to favor us with at least some storms that come across.☃️☃️

    Did you mean cold spills in the plains and goes eastward? Just curious and want to make sure I read you right. Thanks for all your thoughts on the long range and weather in general.

    Good info, I don’t know much about the MJO but some have said some of it’s plots have it skipping cold phases and heading to 4-5-6 which are warm phases. Others show it looping back in cod after traveling through I think 1 and or 2 if I am right? Right now I believe you said it was in low amp 8. What are your thoughts on this? I am trying to understand how mjo correlates and how much it impacts things. Thanks in advance.

    I hope we do get some chances soon. It rarely goes wall to wall warm or cold inTennessee. Do you still think the first few weeks of February may bring some chances as well? I have lived in Tennessee my entire life so I know how fast things can change.

    Here we are at January 11th, hopefully sometime in the next 7 days we see the possible pattern change to a colder more winter like pattern in the long range get more pronounced and the can kicking stops. I am still optimistic that the last week of January into February will bring us 2-3 good systems for the forum to track.

    I hope East Tennessee can score on the upcoming system. I also look forward to hearing about long range. Especially as we get closer to that 18-20th period models should start picking it up more and more if we are going to trend back to winter type weather.☃️

    Yep it’s been warm to seasonal here but it is only January 7th. I have lived in Montgomery County my entire life, I have no doubt cold will return at some point with chances of winter weather. I think the back half of January into February we will see winter like weather return.

    I was wondering the same thing, not seeing much in play for west and middle Tennessee on this one. But maybe a chance for it too change? But I am even more interested in what happens after this potential storm and into late January into February as well.

    I am still pretty confident that cold and winter weather chances will return later into January and the early feb. Nothing changes like the weather.

    I liked your orange T profile. I am a huge Vol fan. I graduated high school the same year as Tennessee O-Lineman Harry Galbreath at rival school in Clarksville back in 1983. He was a great guy. I do like the Carvers Gap profile picture as well. You got 2 cool profiles. I look forward to reading your daily updates during the winter. I feel like we are still going to have a more chances as we move on into January. ☃️

    Well we received around 2.5 on the 23rd snow and we received 1.5 early this morning. That’s a pretty good start for here and we still have January and February at least for more chances. I feel good about our chances at a bigger event or maybe 2 as we get on in to January.

    How do you feel about the chances for west and middle tenn to get a inch or 2 out of the late week system?

    The CMC looked some better for west and middle tenn and even points further East to a extent. At least it appeared that way to me.

    Yep I remember that one well. We received 8 inches in Clarksville on that one. We had a good duration of moderate to heavy snow in that one. Ready for another one like that.

    Does anyone know if the euro ensembles look like the 12z control or are they better looking overall?

    Still a ways to go before a final solution is settled. By Monday-Tuesday we should have a much better idea. I wouldn’t be surprised to see more back and forth over the weekend. I still think we are all still in the game for snow possibilities before Christmas.

    I would love for the 18z to verify! It would be statewide glory!

    On the GFS it still looks like it is trying to hold that 19-20th wave together more and more but still can’t can’t quite get there yet. Maybe it will. Should be some interesting model runs in the coming days. Hoping for snow on the ground at Christmas!
