We're at 2.2" of snow for the month just .2" off of average. Not a bad start.

NWS Pittsburgh @NWSPittsburgh · 17m Our official snowfall today for Pittsburgh is 1.6 inches! Our average first 1" snowfall is about December 4th, so we beat that by a few weeks. In fact, an inch of snow this early has only occurred 4 other times since 2000. Snow weenies, rejoice!

Switched over to rain. The heavy burst was nice while it lasted.

Might just be. Nice little early season excitement. Also, obs at the airport are interesting just before noon it was 38 and light snow, now obs are 32 with snow. Interesting how that heavier burst cooled the air. Would never happen Dec.-Feb. but nice to see it can happen here, lol.

Radar still indicates heavy rain in downtown. It most definitely is not.

Nice big flakes now in town. Hopefully, i can see a little on the grass when I get home.

Coldest morning this morning, and first 20s of the season. Down to 29. Maybe we get a little dusting of snow before the warmer air comes in. Ron Smiley said a few hours of snow in the afternoon. Granted, it's not at a great time of day for accumulation this early in the season, but at least there could be a small chance.

So, the answer is yes, cause we know there's no 15" of snow coming.

So, is it looking like we're going to waste this cold period?

Oh please, we can't start that yet.

Looks like we'll end October with 15 nights that dropped below 40, and 22 days that were below average. I am assuming today will match neither of those stats.

I thought the same when I saw those lows forecast last week. They were getting low, and we have sunk lower than forecast in lows this month, so I thought...maybe.

Yeah, it was a long shot, but still one of the coldest max temps for October ever.

Keeping that colder than normal October likely.

I assume we're in the 17%? That may change in the coming week, with so few rain chances.

Seems they've been forecasting too high lately with high temperatures. I'm sure we'll hit 70 a couple times, but I think it'll still stay below average overall.

Ridiculous, but Macon, GA gets down to 29. Topsy Turvy.

Can't understand how we fail every time. Dew points are mid 20s, but these clouds always seem to somehow pop up over the reporting station. No reason we shouldn't have gotten down to 28, in my opinion. Oh well, will still be a below average month overall.
