From PSEG LI STORM RESTORATION UPDATE: 9 AM Strong winds and heavy rain, starting late last night into this morning, are causing scattered power outages throughout Long Island and the Rockaways. * Hardest hit areas include Oyster Bay, North Hempstead and Huntington. * 9,673 of our approximately 1.2 million customers are currently without service. * As of 9AM power has been restored to more than 7,400 customers since 12:01 AM today. * Crews have been working overnight and will continue to work safely and as quickly as possible until all outages are restored. All PSEG Long Island employees have mobilized to support the restoration efforts, including more than 900 line workers, tree trimmers, surveyors and other field personnel. This includes the support of more than 180 mutual aid high voltage personnel.   2. As opposed to last time this looks like more rain west of the city and more wind east of the city. Correct? Worried about the winds here on Long Island. Last time we had 60mph gusts had no power for days. Thinking of wheeling the generator out. .
  3. Yup. Oil I’m covered my friend owns an oil Company in bellmore so I never had a contract The issue was the chimney crown cracked and the mortar was falling apart so in Heavy rain water leaked into the chimney into the basement Once they redid the crown and the mortar the leaked stopped .
  4. Drove from west babylon to Plainview to have dinner at my mother’s. Wasn’t fun. Standing water everywhere. Ambient weather station back home in babylon reporting 1.58 inches so far. .
  5. Warm decembers turning cold around the holidays seems like it happens more than not .
  6. The last blizzard we got on Long Island he said something big was coming. He calls it when he sees it .
  7. Moderate snow shower lasted all of ten minutes. Was nice to see .
  8. Very rarely do we get two terrible years in a row. At least since 2002 I believe. .
  9. The thing is, like Brooklyn was trying to say, totally different setup from last winter with the El Niño. So it’s unlikely to mirror last year. .
  10. We have had years of warm Decembers that lacked snow. The streak has to break at some point I would think. .
