  1. My seed order from Territorial Seed should be arriving in a couple days. Going to get my setup tidied up in preparation for getting seeds started at the beginning of next month! I've never had a ton of success with spring vegetables, but I'm going to give it a shot this year. Lettuce, broccoli, spinach, and mache will go in for early season, followed by four different tomato varieties, jalapenos, and Athena melon (with some herbs sprinkled in).
  2. I honestly don't remember "jawn" being a Philly thing when I was growing up 10 minutes from Center City, but I remember people using a term that was basically the same as "jawn."
  3. jonjon will probably get some snow out of it, but it might be a big ask for others to get anything.
  4. It just doesn't get cold anymore.
  5. I was in central PA at Bucknell. Unreal winter followed by another absolute monster two years later.
  6. That thing bombs the F out from 210-222 with energy rounding the trough phasing in.
  7. 12z Euro at 500 is night and day from 00z for the 24th timeframe. Energy dives down into Mexico and separates from the NS vort, and that vort getting out ahead establishes more confluence in the NE.
  8. Late January last year it snowed. That would be two years in a row of witnessing something that will never happen again.
  9. I'm admittedly a little bit of a Tolkien geek. With young kids and a self-employed wife (editor) who often works nights and weekends, I don't get much time to watch TV, but a few months ago I was able to rewatch the extended trilogy for the first time in years. Totally agree...it's amazing what that team was able to pull off over 20 years ago. Simply astonishing.
  10. I've got early-season allergies of some sort (pretty sure it's the early maples) and I've already started sneezing like it's March.
  11. I agree with you, Bob. We might lose a bit on the margins, but overall I don't believe we're staring at mild temperatures and inability to snow year on year.
  12. Because people are making sweeping comments about larger-scale issues based on a run of the GFS at 200 hours. It's confirmation bias. You simply cannot "blame" one specific potential failure on something like GW.
  13. Figured I should get this going since I noticed some of the local early-budding trees (silver maples?) were swelling just a bit after the recent mild spell. I'm sure I'll have to mow in a couple weeks. That really got me thinking about getting my seedlings started, which I now realize is only about a month away. And let's admit it...this winter is toast anyways, so we might as well start thinking about spring!
  14. Not even them. In the new normal, they flip to heavy rain after 1.5" of slop.
  15. We're in a mild stretch. Neat.
  16. I've said this before, but Philly's snowfall climate is very similar to that of our area from 95 and west. They average a little more - mostly because they will get snow from later-developing Miller Bs when we don't - but it makes sense that their crap years would be the same as ours.
  17. You could argue that it's more of an "it's staying warmer at night" than "it's getting warmer at night," but it doesn't change what's actually happening on the ground.
  18. Good thing is that the upslope looks to crank after our cutter this weekend!
  19. I've found this page to be really enlightening when it comes to seeing the snowfall anomalies across the US over the years. https://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/sotc/national/202202/supplemental/page-5 Hard to point to one place in one year to make a sweeping claim that the changing base state is affecting everywhere in the same way.
  20. The strange thing about that GFS run is that the low off the Carolinas has just retrograded like 750 miles from southeast of Bermuda to where it is in that panel due to - and then gets stuck under - that massive Quebec block (for lack of a better term).
  21. Sorry you got greyed. I'll watch my first flakes fall and then watch them melt.
