  1. Thanks. Funny enough, I just measured 7" of thick, compacted goodness (my 6.5" was a guesstimate). Wild.
  2. Question: If I measured 5" of snow before the flip, then measured 4.5" of sleet, that's a total of 9.5" even if I only measure 6.5" after the precip ends, right?
  3. That last image is the eyebrow-raising one. A really nice cluster of lows off the Delmarva and a tight gradient. I'll take it.
  4. B...b...b...but I thought the Euro never makes big changes from one run to the next! Been sitting here the last 3-4 runs wondering if what the GFS was smoking 24-36 hours ago would be on sale again. Looks like maybe it is.
  5. We only got about 5" of snow (maybe slightly less) in the early thump, but we've had to have gotten like 1.5" of QPF as sleet. It's just been relentless.
  6. Currently 23, which is the high here in Burke for the day. Still sleeting. i haven’t made a serious measurement, to be honest, but sleet has been ongoing for 10 hours now and we have probably had 4” of sleet in that time (compaction doesn’t help, of course). A good way to determine the impact is the piles I just shoveled…they rival any of the piles I’ve made outside of our biggest storms since 2009. Really Impressive.
  7. I walked outside like 10 minutes ago and there f’ing CHUNKS of sleet coming with diminished visibility. I’m guessing that there are small flakes/needles in there, which is bringing the viz down and helping with accumulation just a bit.
  8. Dude…it’s sleeting so hard that you can’t even tell if there’s snow mixed in.
  9. I’m honestly not sure how much sleet I’ve gotten here in Burke, but it has to be over 1” at this point. It’s been sleet since like 7:30. 17° and f*cking pounding sleet for hours
  10. Maestro wants in on some of that. It's cold. 18F in Burke.
  11. Eisfest -> ski trip -> coastal I’d take that and not care a damn about what happens the rest of the season.
  12. Mixing sucks, and I don’t need anyone telling me that I should be happy that it’s going to sleet (and maybe freezing rain) with temps in the low 29s. You like it? Fine. I don’t.
  13. Wondering if this storm is going to ultimately have the lowest tracking/posting to snowfall ratio ever.
  14. Last January will have been much more fun for MBY if things go as now expected.
  15. 100% OK with that run. We get smoked one run, we whiff well south and east on another…yeah, that works for now.
  16. It's been a long week of tracking this thing and it's going to end up being half the storm I was hoping it would be. I'm just going to let things happen without having any expectations other than what's falling from the sky in the moment. Besides...we'll be in a winter wonderland in six days, so we've got that going for us!
  17. Ours knows how to do it, but she's so anti-confrontation that she backs down as soon as she thinks we might be annoyed at her. The little one, on the other hand, THRIVES on confrontation.
  18. Have at it, but I'm planning to stay out of the obs thread for my own sanity...
  19. Gotta say...while our 13-year-old can be a little sassy, she's pretty chill. We're incredibly lucky with her. Our 8-year-old is a different situation altogether...
  20. OK...let's get through this boring-ass ice storm and get to the really interesting stuff 10 days away.
  21. One of the things that sucks about flipping to sleet in the middle of the day is that the kids don't get the chance to play in ripping dendrites. Instead, they get pelted in the face by ice balls. F*ck sleet. F*ck the flip.
  22. Click the link. It says that remote and telework employees are expected to work and that non-telework employees will be given the hours they were supposed to work. That said, it is surprising given the current status of the federal workforce. NAMs suck.
